As a Mexican I felt robbed, to start, the Queso Fundido, was ok, but so tiny portion and overpriced, the main dishes, Cochinita Pibil and Shrimp Enchiladas, were just wrong, the tortillas were sour, hard and cold in both dishes, the shrimp was completely fishy and the enchiladas didn't taste at all like enchiladas. The cochinita pibil was just pulled pork, I know what it is supposed to taste like and it is nothing even close; I asked for guacamolillo on the side and they gave me a tablespoon of it, completely stingy.
The service was poor, the waitress didn't even asked if I wanted another glass of soda, just took my unfinished drink and gave me a new one, of course with charge, the second waitress was waiving her breasts right in our eyes (my husband and me) and talking to us so friendly that we felt uncomfortable, she said she used to work on the French Quarter and started talking about her own problems.
I will never go back to that place and I am really surprised that a place named after the most important esplanade in my capital city, Mexico City, the Zocalo, is nothing but just old and low quality food. I read that the chef has awards, I guess the people who gave him the award was the same people who named Taco Bell the best Mexican restaurant in USA, and if the owner or the chef are Mexican, shame on you, you put the name of our cuisine really low with the food you...
Read moreWent as a group with a reservation on a weeknight. Ordered queso and guacamole. Both were good but what was not was the small bowls of chips. We had to ask for refills at least 3-4 times. Each time it took the waitress 10+ minutes to bring out more. This was while 3 employees played on their cell phones literally 10 feet across the restaurant with their backs to us. Our queso was cold and there was still guac left with no chips to eat it. Ordered meals my enchiladas had a total of 6 shrimp and cost $30. Total rip off! My friends fajitas were delivered with no tortillas and only peppers. When asked, the waitress insisted there were onions in the dish and actually argued about it before asking condescendingly if my friend wanted some onions. Three friends ordered tacos. They said the flavor was good but the tacos were small (about the size of the palm of a woman’s hand) the rice and beans served as sides were inedible. Cocktails were average but nothing special. Honestly at the price point and location of this restaurant I am surprised it is still open. I’m embarrassed I suggested this place to my friends and definitely won’t be back. There are too many great restaurants in the city to support a restaurant with terrible service and a rude waitstaff and a kitchen that can’t put dishes together before...
Read moreThe entire experience was great. We were able to get reservations relatively easily, and I do suggest reservations as it's hard to have a walk in unless you sit at the bar. They had a nice drink menu, and the house salsa was wonderful. A little different at first because it had a sweetness to it, but by the second chip I couldn't stop eating it. We ordered a second batch. We had the Guacamole with Mango, and it was great. For Entrees my wife ordered the Shrimp Fajitas, which she loved, and I ordered the Short rib Barbacoa (based on the waitress's suggestion), and it was absolutely amazing. Best thing I have eaten in a long time. This is a great place, entree prices are between 22-28 dollars (except the taco prices are amazingly reasonable), and we...
