I’ve been here 4 times. Two visits were fine, one visit was bad, the last visit did it for us. We had family in from out of town and took them to eat there. We were a large party of 8 so they put us in a side room. One other table was occupied in there with about 4 people in their party and they were finishing up. They paid there bill while we waited for our drink and appetizer order to be taken. The waiter walked in as they were getting up to leave and asked if they needed anything as they walked out the door while totally ignoring us. He then came to our table to take our drink and appetizer order. We then sat there for over 20 minutes with no drinks or appetizers and no one coming in to check on us. They finally seated a couple in the room with us. Their drink order was filled and brought out to them promptly while we still waited. At that point we decided to stay just to see how long it would take. The couple ordered their food and we waited for our drinks and appetizers. Their food was served while we had no drinks and no waiter to speak of. We were told they would check on our waiter. Nothing. The manager came in and we told him. Still nothing. After an hour waiting with no drinks or appetizers, no crackers left on the table (we all ate them), and no waiter in sight we finally decided to leave. At that point the manager was there and held the door open for us telling us to come again at which my husband told him we waited over an hour with not even our drinks being served. No apology from him. Not a word from him. Never again! We were very embarrassed putting our guests through that. We were all nicely dressed, nice cars, middle-aged, and we had the money and had planned on spending it. We figured a 400.00 bill and we were fine with that. What was the problem? It wasn’t even like they forgot we were in there. They just flat out ignored us! Not even an apology! Thanks for giving our company/family a great first impression of New Orleans...
Read moreUpon walking in, the smell was so delicious and mouth watering. We were told to take a seat anywhere. The woman came and took our drink orders. She returned with the drinks but walked off before we could tell her we were ready to order. She didn't return for at least 10 minutes to take our order. At this point, our drinks were half empty. She took the orders and returned with my side salad. Eventually, the food was brought out. Our glasses were basically empty, but she didn't even consider refilling them. From that point on, we never saw her again. There was another waitress walking around waiting on her tables constantly. There was a gentleman walking around cleaning tables. At one point, he grabbed a pitcher of water and confirmed with the other waitress that a specific table was the one that needed refills. He filled their glasses and didn't bother to glance at the only 2 other tables occupied to see if anyone needed anything. We both had empty glasses. My husband said his roast beef poboy was delicious. My grilled salmon was cooked perfectly but had no seasoning on it, so it was very bland. The broccoli that I got with it was also cooked perfectly. It's really a shame. We just happened to get the waitress who wasn't working. If we lived over there, I might consider giving them another chance, but since we don't, I'll stick to other restaurants over there that I know I will like. Also, the prices I saw online from pics are old. Here are the...
Read moreWorst experience ever!!!! Since when are 11 oysters a dozen?!?! And how does an owner explain a burnt po-boy as an exceptable example of actual cuisine? Apparently, the Metairie road galley believes that the size of a raw oyster denotes the degree of black char allowed upon its once pristine back, once deep-fried in over used oil. In almost 40 years of dining and over 15 years of bar tending; and accompanied by a former Brennan's chef in good standing; I have never been persuaded to return an uneaten meal. Here I was not only persuaded, I was forced through the complete lack of edibility to return my dish to the garbage dump from which it originated, as was my accomplished and persnickety companion with the chef moniker I was "dining " with.
Black poboy le-oyster, shrimpless shrimp and grits, and both served after the lukewarm bottled beer and dozen raw oysters counting only 11... why do we; paying patrons; allow such perversions continue?!?
I vote strongly on a ban or change in ownership!
The nearby construction has given us all a reason to discontinue our association with the substandard "cuisine " served by The Galley as well as its remote and egotistical ownership.
Let it die in peace, if not in fondness.
