Aljazzar Meats & Grill / Shawarma King — Restaurant in Louisville

Being a Buechel local, I drive by most every day. When the old gas station was removed to turn into this new gem, I was excited to try it. I was there on a Saturday night, around 7, and there was a real bustle in the place. People were coming in to pick up and 3 of the 5 tables had diners (both adults and children). There are also tables outside when the weather is nice. The place was exceptionally neat, clean and I felt very welcomed. All visible employees wore either clean/black aprons for those working behind the counter, the register guy wore a clean and crisp white shirt. Housekeeping staff were in clean uniform aprons and working constantly to keep things neat and clean. The menu boards are written so that they are easy to read and the descriptions are clear.

Walking up to the counter to place my order, I was greeted with a warm and genuine smile, asked if this was my first time in and if I had any questions about the menu. I ordered a small baba ghanouj and the mixed grill for one and took a seat at an open table to wait. It was about 15 minutes till my order was ready and it was indeed worth a few minutes. The baba was very fresh and delicious with the mixed grill items being hot, nicely presented with rice/sauces/picked veg/grilled 1/2 onion and 1/2 tomato, etc. I couldn't believe the size of the portions. Oh, a drink is included which is a nice touch and include both Coke brand soft drinks and bottled water. I had more than half of both left over and I'm looking forward to leftovers. BTW, the price was extremely reasonable. Though this is a really informal and casual setting, the cashier came by twice to check on me. Both times with a smile and friendly tone.

I'm always on the look for a local place that offers something unique, especially foods and tastes from other cultures. Let me tell you very clearly, I've found myself a new one! They have a flyer with the menu on one side and a bit of their story on the other. Besides talking about the fresh meats and flavorful dishes, they include a line that everyone is welcome - no matter race, ethnicity, background, or beliefs. Amazing flavors, incredible service, impressive variety. These folks are making my neighborhood better, one kebab at a time. Friendly people with high-quality food and welcoming atmosphere. Clean and safe location. Butcher in house and clearly an artisan of the craft. Every piece of meat I saw was pristine. Imported goods (Jordanian sama brand soda drinks, olive oil and frozen veggies) without the high cost passed down to customers. We ordered babaghanouj, chicken shish tawouk and lamb tekka grill combos. Enough for 2 people plus enough to share or take along for lunch. Char grilled to perfection without relying on the fuel to make the flavors. Each bite was distinct from the next. No cheap cooking oils. No shortcuts to service. The line was impeccable from prep to presentation. Everything ready to make for you as you order. Will go back and attempt to try everything on the menu (except for the kids tenders, i get it, some children wouldnt have the palate required to fully appreciate the flavors and textures).
