Love this place! All baked goods tend to be more subtle in sweetness (except for the brownie) which I really enjoy and there is a huge selection. The brownie is like a love child between a traditional cakey Brownie and chocolate chess pie; it's good, chocolatey and sweet! My two favorite desserts are the dacquoise (French: [dakwɑz] is a dessert cake made with layers of almond and hazelnut meringue and whipped cream or buttercream on a buttery biscuit base) and the chocolate croissant, but almost all their desserts are very good, so it's hard to go wrong. I would recommend passing on the cupcakes; they are a little too dense and other places do cupcakes better. Today my friend and I tried up a pecan tart and it was so good! The coffees here are delicious. Again they're not overly sweet like a lot of places tend to be. The only lattes I think are better in Louisville are the ones at MozzaPi. Both the caramel macchiato and mocha are delish at JWs. The lunch food is decent to good depending on what you get. It's a weird mix of offerings from rice and noodle dishes to salads to a grilled cheese. My fav is the bibimbap. Be warned that they don't necessarily prepare offerings traditionally for American cuisine; the grilled cheese is done in a panini press with no butter. Another example is the chicken teriyaki comes with mayonnaise on top. Regardless the food is tasty and prepared to order. My friend and I come here at least...
Read moreI'm visiting from Minneapolis. I was trying to find a space that allowed for me to drink a latte and eat something besides a small bakery item while working on some pre-med stuff. I found this spot and it FAR exceeded my expectations. First - yes they have coffee and specialty lattes and a large selection of syrups (like my hard to find lavender and pumpkin spice). They also have a large selection of soup, salad, and sandwiches (I had the chicken panini - soooo great), but the big mind blow was when I saw some delicious looking Korean dishes on the menu. I'm not Korean or have any experience with Korean food, but it looked amazing. The bakery selection is not tiny. Everything is wrapped individually and beautifully. I grabbed a cheese danish to eat later because I couldn't pass it up. But wait there's more..... there was a glass case of some mouth watering deserts (sponge cake, tiramisu, oreo cheesecake, macaroons, etc). Also the aesthetic is peaceful and has a big of that modern industrial vibe. There's murals you could take a picture at. It's so relaxing in here. I plan on having to travel back an forth and this is absolutely going to be my go-to place. Can't wait to come back for those...
