This place is completely, thoroughly mediocre. I'm speaking strictly in terms of the food - the service is fine, and I've never had any issues there, though I've only ever ordered takeout. I'm a sandwich guy, I don't order much pasta or pizza, so consider this review to be mainly about their sandwiches. The issues start with the bread, which is always too soft, too insubstantial, and is generally soggy by the time you get it in your hands. The problems continue with ingredients and preparation. I've had cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks, chicken finger sandwiches, and zeps from Tosco's, and every single one has failed to impress or delight. There's always too much or too little of something, some ingredient which is sub-par, or something over/undercooked. I've never finished a meal and gone "wow, can't wait to eat that again!", only "gonna have to try something else next time". My wife likes their salads, for what it's worth. Having lived in the area for 5-6 years now, I'll take Padrino's over Tosco's every day of the week, month, or year. It's simply no contest in terms of how good the food is.
UPDATE 8/8/2020 - Wife wanted a salad so I figured I'd try one as well, and see if the salads are better than the sandwiches. I got a Cobb Salad. They forgot to put the bacon on it (discovered when I got it home). Stars unchanged.
UPDATE 10/42024 - Same as before, wife wanted one of their salads, so I figured I'd see if they've improved their sandwich game. Unfortunately, the answer is no, no they have not. Firstly, I ordered a Buffalo Crispy Chicken sandwich, and what I discovered when I got home is that they gave me a BBQ crispy chicken sandwich (so BBQ sauce instead of the Buffalo/Bleu Cheese listed on the menu), and THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE A BBQ CRISPY CHICKEN SANDWICH ON THE MENU. Second, the sandwich I got is just as crappy as the ones I've received from Tosco's before. Soggy, falling apart, and overloaded with bad BBQ sauce. There's a lot of chicken at least, but you're going to be eating it with a fork after your roll disintegrates....
Read moreThis local family owned restaurant is definitely worth going to frequently. Very reasonably priced and has bailed me out of a last minute hunger frenzy hundreds of times. It’s amazing I haven’t given a review before now. Guess I don’t do reviews too often. My go to items include Sicilian slices and fries. Cliché I know. However, the chicken Cesar salad is great. A new pizza by the the slice has emerged recently. They refer to it as “ chipotle chicken” and is one of the best slices of pizza I’ve ever had ! Kudos to whomever had that idea ! In fact, I hope the owner sees this review and gives that person a well deserved raise ! I find myself returning to this place over and over again simply because it is the best place to eat in the entire area! Especially for the value. I have also been in many conversations with the owner and others who work there. I am not friends or affiliated with them in any way although the treat me as so . I spend over $10 at BK or even longhorn and often wonder how they stay in business. I spend less than $10 here and am always satisfied! The quality of the food is always consistently great! Everyone is friendly! You would think that after 100 or so times of eating there that I would’ve experienced something terrible at least once. But that is not the case. The more I go on with this review the more I am blown away by the truthfulness in this. I’m on the way there now to pick up order # 22 and I’m salivating. If you forget the # they’ve given you, they are never disgruntled and easily figure it out when you arrive. I wish I could find better words to give them the credibility that they deserve. If you’re in Norristown Collegeville or even King of Prussia, heck even Phoenixville, do yourself a favor as well as your wallet, and go to...
Read moreFantastic, local, friendly pizza place and Italian restaurant If you haven't been to Tosco's, I highly recommend you stop by for lunch or dinner. Sure they have pizza, steaks and subs, but what stands out is that the place is owned and managed by caring owners and staff who keep the place clean and serve food fast at reasonable prices. This is not some high-end Italian restaurant, but the food is as good as many of the high-end places I've been to. They could use some softer wall coverings to absorb some of the noise when the place gets busy, but most similar places are like that.
Try their baked ravioli dinner but ask for meat sauce. Yum! They bake it all together and it is delicious. Then there are those garlic rolls they serve with dinners. I would go and just have them if I could, but I always end up ordering a dinner there.
The locals go there, and the locals work there - which makes it have a very community-centric feel to it. They also sometimes donate items to the local schools for special events.
Overall, a fantastic place. Next time I'm there, I'll snap some photos and post them here. You should...
