Waitress (the only one on staff at 2:30) was very pleasant and empathetic and overworked. I was there for takeout lunch so I wanted to get right in and out. I was greeted with a large menu and also the lunch special one page menu by the friendly waitress. Upon looking over their lunch specials, I found something that interested me. The lunch menu read all lunch sandwiches come with choice of fries or soup of the day. Upcharge for chilli or french onion. Well it was a toss up between cheesesteak quesadilla or off the regular menu, buffalo chicken dip. I mention that it is a toss up for me between the two and I am told they don't have the dip by the waitress. So I order the cheesesteak quesadillas and ask for chilli and some sour cream. The order comes out to over $14.00. My quesadillas were supposed to be $8 with the chilli upcharge I was expecting around $10. The waitress asked someone in authority behind closed doors and comes back and tells me that although the lunch special menu seems ambiguous about this, the chilli for upcharge is only with sandwiches, you got a quesadilla. It doesn't count. Now... If the mistake was made, I should have at the very least been told this by the manager... Should have been given the discount anyway and told why I was in error. (Again there were like 7 lunch menu items and I think all we're sandwiches except for the quesadilla)
But to my surprise, the waitress asked me what I would like to do... You can cancel the chili I said. So when she brings me the food, (And I must repeat I was there on my lunch break and in a rush and my order easily took 25 minutes) She tells me she charged me $10 and threw the chilli in anyway and some extra sour cream for me. I thanked her and told her that is what I had expected her manager to have done and thanked her letting her know that because she did that, I may be inclined to try them again but I most certainly wouldn't have come back if she didn't go out of her way to do right by me.... So kudos to her. Unfortunately when I got back to my shop and went to eat my quesadillas and my chilli I dumped a packet of what I thought was sour cream in my chilli. Turns out the waitress gave me cream cheese instead of sour cream. 5 tubs of it. Honest mistake but it was the cherry on top for me.
Management needs to be more attentive to customer. Lunch menu needs to be less ambiguous. Need to hire more waitresses. Need to give the one you have a raise or promotion.
The chilli was ok as was...
Read moreTo say that Angie’s Diner and Lounge is spectacular is the understatement of the century. If you are looking to experience the Pennsylvania culinary culture that thrives in the local restaurants and can only find most times by pure chance you can do no better than Angie’s. It is right next to the Best Western I stayed at and is quite literally a two minute walk away. My first time swinging open the doors I was greeted by a pseudo 1950’s neon bar/restaurant feeling. You seat yourself and are immediately greeted by friendly staff who are happy to assist you and are quite courteous. Their menu is vast, filling the margins of the pages with every hearty and mouth watering form of sustenance you can imagine. I myself am prone to spice so my experience while limited in the scope of variety I can say for certain that if you are a lover of all that is spicy the extra hot wings are a fantastic challenge. The burgers are especially delectable at the medium well option. Sauces including the marinara, hot sauce, and barbecue appear to be homemade and provide a great addition to any dish. I had the great honor of meeting the owner who was manning the floor on my first night eating at Angie’s. A kind individual who obviously cares about the guests and their experience at the restaurant. If the owner does ever see this review please know that in my entire life I have never had a more pleasant and heart warming experience in a restaurant than I did at your establishment. Thank you for providing the ultimate...
Read moreIt is a fun place with that hometown feel, attentive service, fair prices, and nice quantities of quality food. My most recent visit; I had the sausage and cabbage soup, and the Angie's Special Club (that is not the proper name although it's close). The bread was perfectly toasted, the lettuce fresh off the head, the tomatoes were just downright yummy, the bacon not overly crispy like a bacon bit but not too chewy as to pull out with the first bite, the mayonnaise perfect (tasted like Duke's perhaps) and the meat put the deli in delicious.
Our server/host that evening was a down to earth attentive guy with a friendly outgoing and professional demeanor.
My wife had the BLT and French onion soup. Her BLT was just a great/fresh as my club and her French onion soup was great as well, the "croutons" in it were especially tasteful with a perfect texture (not soggy at all but perfectly mated to the soup).
This evening, there was an elderly gentleman in the both next to ours, who was seated with his wife. He needed assistance with sitting/moving, and our waiter/host did so in such a manner that the older gentlemen was able to keep his dignity.
I suppose one could argue (inaccurately) that my review is exaggerated to a certain degree, though they'd be wrong. I do, however, take notice/observe a lot of detail (blame it on the A.D.D baby).
We will be and...
