Do not recommend dining at this establishment. The general manager was extremely rude with absolutely no regard for customer service. I made a reservation over the phone 3+ weeks in advance for my graduation dinner. Two days before, they called and left no message, so I was unaware of the call. On the day before, I received a text confirming my reservation. They then called me late that night leaving a voicemail that said they would like to talk to me about moving the time. I saw the voicemail the next morning (morning of my graduation) and planned on giving them a call back after the ceremony, since the restaurant was not open that early. At around 4pm (as I was picking up my diploma) they called and told me that my 7pm reservation needed to be moved to either 4:45pm or 9:30pm. I asked to speak to the manager to know why this was the case given that I had booked weeks in advance. The manager was very rude over the phone and told me that “other people booked months in advance.” Which of course prompted me to ask why they booked me at all if there was no availability. To which he shrugged it off as a hostess error. I ended up rushing in my full cap and gown to the restaurant in order to try to get this resolved in person. Throughout my entire conversation with the manager, he made it very clear that he couldn’t care less about the major disruption to my graduation plans and the complete lack of organization on their part. At no point did he apologize and instead he was very disrespectful to both me and my family. Will never consider eating here ever again and do not recommend dining here. I only hope that the owner makes a change in management. Such a terrible way to spend what was supposed to be a happy day.
Edit: Would like to again clarify that I received one call two days before with no message, one call the night before with a message that I saw the morning of, then a call at 4pm the day of, which I answered. I did not receive 3 messages. In all honesty, while very frustrating, the change in my reservation time is not what prompted me to leave this review. The disrespect that I received from the manager of this establishment and lack of consideration is why I would not recommend dining here. I understand that staff make mistakes, but trying to change a 7pm reservation made 3+ weeks ago to either 4:45pm or 9pm is extremely bad service, even if it’s done 2 days before (especially for a graduation dinner). Lastly, to the owner, I urge you to reevaluate your management. Mistakes happen, but no customer wants to feel disrespected. I understand that you were not there to witness the conversation, but for such a vital position, I think it would be worth reconsidering whether or not they are the right person for the...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience overall. We were greeted as soon as we entered, and we notice the place had a low light atmonphere with some Jazz in the background. A perfect start for a birthday dinner celebration. Once we sat on the table we waited a litttle too much for the waiter to come and ask for drinks. He gently filled the cups with water and asked for our drinks. We ordered two drinks; however, one came first and the other one came 5 minutes later. First mistake, please make sure you bring the drinks at the same time, that way none of us has to wait, and we can toast together.
We ordered the beef points as appetizers, they were delicious! The sauce was amazing. Then, We decided to share the New York Strip for two au poivre (pepper sauce) - If you like pepper you must try it!
I ordered a baked potatoe and asparagus for n my sides, and my girlfriend ordered Loaded baked potatoe and cream corn.
The presentatioj of the plates was amazing. The waiter served a plate with the sides first, and then he brought a wooden board with the steak. He cut the steak in pieces and then served to the pieces to the plates.
The steak was cook te perfection - medium. However, We both feel the sides were not hot - especially the potatoes. They were hard and not soft and fluffy. They were undercooked, it seems the plates were outside for too long just waiting for the steak to finish cooking.
That didnt bother us though, the flovor of the steak could outshine any judgement of the sides.
We ordered a couple more drinks, but only one came. Then we ordered the mandarin orange cake for dessert. Before arrival, the waiter kindly removed the crumbs and place new spoons for us. After a.couple minutes, the waiter brought the cake, and it was delicious! Very moist and flavorful - just perfect to switch to a sweet flavor.
Now comes the check.
Well, even though it was a good experience we feel it was overpriced. When you pay $75 for a Stake it's not anymore about how good the steak taste. You are also paying for excellent service with the best sides the kitchen can cook. And we honestly feel there is room for improvement.
I will give a chance to this place again. It has been the best service we have had...
Read moreBeen coming for years, but last night was awful. Wife ordered the filet as always and said it was perfect. I normally do the same, but decided on the Steak Au Poivre and my usual side of spinach rockefeller.
The steak came out and they had me inspect the steak for the temperature. I ordered rare but this was a medium rare leaning more on the cooked side. I'm not one of those guys who sends it back, but I should have. I told him it's overcooked but that I would eat it.
I've never paid $68 for a steak and only eight about a third, but I couldn't eat anymore of it. It was so tough. My knife had a hard time cutting a tendon. It was overcooked and not as I ordered, but that part's on me. I will say the seasoning on the steak was excellent. But it was a very bad selection of steak.
The spinach rockefeller typically comes in a ramekin with cheese on top. Apparently the cheese had sat for a little while and congealed to a solid mass. It's very difficult to eat out of a ramekin when it's congealed, so I just dumped it on my plate and cut it up. It tasted excellent, but apparently it sat on the shelf waiting for my steak to remain in the oven for an additional 10 minutes.
Meals at this restaurant typically come with a fried cheese stick. The owner owns a local burger place called Spanky's and they have cheese sticks. But for some reason, in a fine dining restaurant they put a fried cheese stick on the plate??? I typically give it away to some of our friends/family and don't eat it. But tonight, I ate my mashed potatoes, spinach and the cheese stick simply because I was hungry.
I told the waiter when he asked if I was still working on my steak, no, it was very tough and overcoked. I did not ask to speak to the manager, nor did I ask for my meal to be comped. I think too many people abuse that situation and go into a restaurant and try to get a free meal. That's just criminal in my book. Not every meal is going to be perfect. This one certainly was not. I'm just disappointed at the Double Nickel.
We will definitely go back and I'll stick with the filet. But I officially reprimand the chef and the owner. Your selection of meat and the disregard of cooking instructions on both the sides and...
