We went to El Flamboyan after some recommendations, initial impression was that there was only one person taking and delivering orders as well as ringing people up at the register, the place was packed so naturally orders took a while to be taken and delivered. Looking at the menu the prices were higher than usual ($3.00 for a can of soda), we got the bacalaitos and empanadillas (while they were written in plural form it was only one of each) and they cost us $4 dollars and $3.50 respectively, they also came with disposable plates and utensils. The bacalaitos seemed like they were made from a goya packet and the empanadillas were ok. When we got our food (we ordered the can can pork chop as well as a mofongo with arroz con gandules), both were pricey dishes ($28 for the pork chops). For quality they were ok, not something I would pay premium price for though. At one point the staff went to get the trash can and he raised it above the tables and moved it across the room, passing it above most tables. The total order came out to $80+ which is extremely overpriced for 2 meals in a small restaurant. Honestly I would not...

The bacalaíto was plate-sized, crunchy at the rim and soft in the center, a disc of pure deliciousness. The guineítos en escabeche reminded me of those my Abuela made for us, the guineo was well cooked and the flavors were developed and balanced. The cuajitos were very tasty and flavorsome. For entrées, we had mofongo, one with shrimp in sauce, another with carne frita and the other one with bistec. The plantain was king and both proteins complemented it pretty well. I did not taste the tripleta but my son found no fault. Portions were decent, service was fast and excellent, and prices were hard to beat. For dessert, we had flan (fantastic flavor and texture) quesitos, and pastelillos de guayaba. Their soft drink selection is acceptable, with Malta India, Coco Rico, and Cola Champagne being our choices for the day. Yes, we were hungry but surely we were satisfied and left content and looking forward to our next visit. It is worth the trip, no...
