Java Jacks Coffee House — Restaurant in Lufkin

Today is May 8th, and my family stopped by your coffee shop for a spicy pig and coffee. We always enjoy your food and products, but today things went a little differently. The larger gentlemen with shaggy hair, untrimmed beard with ear piercings taking orders through the drive thru was very unpleasant through the whole order. He was short, and rude the moment we drove up. I simply asked for extra sauce on my spicy pig as I usually do and he didn’t seem like he acknowledged my request. Upon completing the order I kindly verified he heard me. His response “I wrote it on the ticket” was clearly showing irritation. I even left that guy a tip, and wrote smile on the receipt to be nice. Which I regret. We decided to eat inside and when I opened my sandwich there was less sauce than usual without the request of extra lol!! So I kindly asked the sweet lady at the register for extra sauce, no big deal. The same gentlemen immediately popped off to me and told me “ I wrote it on the ticket for extra sauce it’s got extra sauce” I very sternly, told him there was not enough, and that he was being extremely rude now and through the drive thru and it wasn’t necessary. The other gentlemen in the hat, skinny with long hair was very kind, whipped it up for me and apologized. I have always enjoyed my experience with you guys, But that was just ridiculous. If that gentlemen hates his job that much, he might need to look for something that better suits him. I feel bad for anyone else that endured his attitude. Otherwise, coffee and food...

As someone who has been in the service industry for over 25 years and food service particularly for 12 years as well as management and ownership of 2 business, I must say that Java Jacks in Lufkin is always great and the staff is friendly and accommodating. I love that I can sleep until noon on a weekend and still have somewhere to go that serves BREAKFAST that actually tastes like it’s made fresh and I can get it from the convenience of my car window. Java Jacks always makes me AND my pups happy in the drive thru. In the past there have been a couple of employees who didn’t seem to love their job (I think that’s pretty par for course since 2020) but overall the staff, coffee and particularly the breakfast sandwiches have always been great. The quality and service here have far surpassed many locally owned as well as popular chains during and after the Covid Crisis! I’ve never once been disappointed with this coffee shop. I have experience working as a barista and all I have to say is yikes. The espresso in our drinks tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. I can confirm this id true by how fast our drinks were made as well. I understand moving with urgency, but when you're sacrificing product quality it's questionable. The service was iffy as well as we were not greeted or felt welcome. We pulled in and instantly felt unwelcome by the judgmental glances we got from the baristas. To an extent we felt almost as if we were not welcomed there and I could not help but feel as if it was almost a little racist as me and my friends are from different parts of Latin America and Spain while all the workers during the time we were there were white.
