Staying here currently over night with my father, and let me just say, the best part about this experience is because of the kitchen workers. To begin when I got here my dad was waiting in a hall way on a bed where I waited with him for about 4 hours (understandable that they were busy and had no beds I’m in no way upset about that at all they’re doing the best they can. ) my problem starts with the way my dad was treated. Every time he tried to ask the first doctor something it seemed like he would just brush off what was being asked and would just walk away and seemed very rude about some of his responses. Then we got to a room and our first nurse was extremely nice, I beloved her name was Sarah. She let me ask all kinds of questions and every-time the iv thing was screaming about air in the line she came in quickly to try and solve the problem. Then we had a shift change I guess ? And the second set of nurses were just absolutely careless. They didn’t seem like they knew what they were doing because they flipped the lights on and started being extremely loud around 3:30am. They kept asking each other questions I assume they should know. They weren’t even trying to be subtle about coming in and just waking everyone up the way they did. No inside voices or anything. And my dad is not hard of hearing so there was no need to be loud. The second doctor we had seen last night told us what he would need is pain meds and liquids, and then this morning changed the story and said now he can only have liquids. Not to mention last night the nurse said he was to not have anything at all and then ten minutes later he was told he can have liquids. So I’m not sure why the stories or solutions keep changing but it’s very unprofessional and they should really get together to discuss what a patient is allowed to have before telling them 50 different things.
While sitting in the hallway waiting for a room, it seems like the nurses love to just stare and act like you’re infected or something. Social skills should be taught better. Addison was amazing and knew exactly where to send me. She was extremely sweet, helpful and accommodating. When bringing the food we had an amazing lady come by who made small talk and was just the sweetest. She made the atmosphere feel so much better and made some jokes that were making the mood better.
Karlie came into our room and was also very accommodating. She double checked and made sure she could get us absolutely anything we needed. She was very very sweet and made my dad feel like he was a special patient. When she left our room he said that he hopes she’s the one who brings us anything we needed. Loved her. A couple hours later April, I believe the head of kitchen? She came by and also made sure that my dad was comfortable since he could only have liquids. She asked if he needed anything at all and made sure some clear bottled drinks were sent his way so he wasn’t stuck with nothing to drink.
Overall, I understand the hospital is busy. I understand there’s a lot going on and maybe what I’m saying is not a big deal to anyone, but the way you treat your patients matter and I think some of the nurses and doctors could take a few notes from the way the kitchen crew treats patients. If it wasn’t for the kitchen I’d be giving this hospital 2 stars. Even if they were busy, it seemed like it took an hour for ANYTHING that...
Read moreNovember 1st, 1130am, I called Woodland and asked if they had recvd my stat ctscan request. they advised not, just come to the clinic (diagnostic center) or hospital with my copy. I arrived at the clinic and They advised that I need to make an appointment for the ct scan or go to the hospital. She (front desk check in) advised they still had not revieved the stat request, "you need to make an appointment",again. She scheduled me for the scan 4 weeks later because there was "no one working at the clinic/ diagnostic center today, which is why you need to make an appointment", Friday Nov 1st noon. They did not ask for the doctor's contact information to request the stat request. Nor did they look anything up. I was simply told to make an appointment.
Nov 5th, My requesting dr called me, now 4 days later, asking why I had not had the ct scan completed. I related that Woodland either lost or did not receive the first request. They created a new stat ct scan request and sent it in again. A short time later, Woodlands called me asking that I call the requesting dr for a new stat ct scan because the one they have was dated Friday Nov 1st (this was the original request that was lost by Woodland). We hung up and before I could call my dr again, Woodland called and said they found the new request and do not call the dr. She also advised that I can walk in the hospital or the clinic.
When I arrived at the diagnostic center on Nov 5th at 1pm, I was told they have the rquest and that I could wait because there were 2 people ahead of me or I could go chance getting seen sooner at the hospital. I chose to stay and wait. From the point registration took my information until the time i was ready to check out was absolutely pleasant. Then I had to wait again at thd front desk to drop off a sign out folder as there was no one there.
There are huge issue and a cut in communication with the office that receives the request, logs them in, and notifying the 2 locations. I had to wait 4 days before they found my original request whithey then immediately found the new request. The front desk on Nov 1, at the diagnostic center was snippy and did nothing but tell 3 times I need to set an appointment. There was no attempt to communicate with they personel who receive the request. It should be noted that my copy did not have "stat" , but she did not see my copy until after iasked her to set the...
Read moreMy experience was not a good experience in several ways. To start out, I wa suppose to have been put into icu isolation because of my diagnosis. Apparently since only one room was available, I was put into a room on the floor. Isolation did not exist. Secondly, as a cancer patient, I was never consulted as to what my diet needed to be. Three big meals were brought to me..none of which were anything I could eat, much less even smell. Each meal was left on my tray until the next meal was served..the evening meal sat there all night. Thirdly, the evening tech, after the first day, apparently decided she didn't want to help me any more. I heard her say she didn't have time for "this". And wanted to refuse to help me up to the bathroom because she didn't want me to fall on her shift. The final incident was Sunday morning when she was taking vitals. I asked her to please come back to help me after she finished vitals. I never saw her again that morning. After about 1 1/2 hours, I gave up and made my way to the bathroom. I rang for help and two nurses came in to clean up me and the bathroom floor..I would not take the chance of slipping when trying to do it myself. The regular nurses and day techs were very good. It was only the one night tech who had the attitude. Lastly, I was appalled at the lack of cleanliness in the hospital. After working for 20 years at my local hospital, I understand what the state requires and expects during their inspections. I saw several things in just my room and bathroom that would not have passed inspection. The sink in the room was not cleaned...iv tubing was left in the sink; I moved it so I could use the sink. The next morning whatever had been in the iv had drained, dried, and left brown residue on the sink. When being taken to radiology, the elevator smelled so bad, I could hardly breathe. I commented about the smell and the reply was "it's bad..we've just gotten used to it " When my son in law came to take me home, he said the men's bathroom was so bad, he thought he was going to throw up. We have used woodlands heights several times in the past and have been pleased, even taking in consideration of construction. But after this last visit, WH is not the place I want to...
