My husband and I were treated to dinner at Dominico Italian Restaurant and Pizzaria Restaurant in the East Luray Shopping Center by our daughter and her fiance on the evening before. The review is titled for the Shopping Center and has a photo of a nearby grocery store. The restaurant is poorly represented by the photo, which makes the area look run-down and over-used in my opinion. The restaurant and its surroundings are very nice and clean as well as being nicely maintained in the fashion of a neighborhood where all care about their property and those of all ages and types seemed comfortable sitting at the table they chose or counter, or picked up for take out. As for the food, the variety is wide and includes classic pasta dishes, a great selection of entrees, popular pizza, plus appetizers, soups, antipasto and desserts. All of our meals were attractively presented at their proper temperatures. We were served a large loaf of delicious homemade Italian bread hot from the oven and ate it all. Then we requested more to be served when our meals arrived. 😋 Additional butter was provided without being requested. I had lasagna, which had ample meat sauce and cheese and the portion was very large. I ended up taking about 1/3 out for lunch the next day. We have a family joke about how good lasagna is. If I don't eat it all, I am asked, "Is the lasagna good, Mom?" The reply from joker2 is, "Not as good as Mom's lasagna." This was too much to eat and too good to waste. My husband had a large serving of Baked Ziti. He said it was not very good. However, I must say that he is accustomed to getting his Baked Ziti from our local Michelin rated restaurant so I don't consider him a good judge. . Our son-in-law-to-be had 🍕 and loved it. He told us pizza is a favorite there due to it being a college town and there being a large selection of toppings. He seemed to enjoy each slice. Finally, our daughter had stuffed shells, which she declared really good. She enjoyed the selection of cheeses in the stuffing. Overall everything was very pleasant, aided by the sentimental thoughts of this being our last dinner with our daughter ❤️ as a...
Read moreBefore even placing the order online, I called to see if they had root beer. I was told that they did. I told them I wanted to substitute the sprite for root beer in my online order - I was told to just make a note on the online order. Ok, cool.
I then placed the order at 2:05pm. The order stated that it'd be delivered between 2:50 PM - 3:05 PM - longer wait time than usual, but fine. Two minutes AFTER the previously stated arrival window of the order, I receive a call from the restaurant stating that they're out root beer...wait, what?...are you serious? It's been OVER AN HOUR and they just NOW call??
So not only has it been OVER AN HOUR and the food is nowhere in sight - the clowns call to inform me that the SPECIFIC thing that I called about before even placing the order to see that they had--which said clowns CONFIRMED they had!--is now magically not available. This is bewildering (and frustrating) beyond words.
10 minutes later and the food STILL hasn't arrived. At this point my stomach is touching my back. I call the restaurant and ask for an ETA - I was told that they can't provide an ETA for a delivery that's NOW 70+ minutes after I placed the order. But don't worry, folks - the barely warm delivery finally arrived approx 10-15 minutes later. (For those keeping record, I legit could've watched a WHOLE feature length film during span of time between the order and delivery of this not-remotely-good-enough-to-be-this-flagrantly-late food!)
Who's running this popsicle stand? How is laughable, bottom of the barrel service like this...
Read moreShort Version: Extremely slow service, and only average quality food.
Long Version: While on vacation, i brought my family here for dinner after seeing the caverns. The waitress was friendly, seated us quickly, and took our drink order. She gave us a few minutes to browse the menu, and then took our food order.
Almost 40 minutes later, our appetizers arrived, and one of them was missing. Our food arrived about 45 minutes after the appetizers, and the final appetizer about 10 minutes after that. Another family that arrived about 10 minutes after we did were still waiting on a single pizza after an hour.
The waitress was apologetic, and kept saying she didn't know what was taking them so long. Our two families were the only customers in the store, and only one delivery order went out the entire time were were there, so they weren't busy. She said several times that if they wanted to cancel their order, she would understand, but that she could not give them an estimated time frame, or an explanation for the delay. It sounded like she was told to say this, and almost felt like they were actually trying to get the family to cancel the order. i felt a little bad for the waitress because she was just the middleman. None of the problems were her fault.
The food itself wasn't great. It wasn't bad, but it certainly was not worth the wait. The seating area of the restaurant was clean enough. i didn't check the bathrooms though, so i'm not sure about them. i expect they probably looked fine considering the rest...
