Food was bland. We ordered cheeseburgers asked for them to be cooked medium, they were well done, toppings were chintzy, e.g., one pickle slice on the whole burger, there was nothing special about the buns. Maybe toasting or steaming them would have added some interest. Steak and cheese sandwich toppings were only on one side of the hoagie roll. not evenly distributedânot that big of a deal. French fries were cooked in oil that was not hot enough, they were limp, soggy fries. We also ordered a peach ice cream shake, which was goodânot great, but good. Service: our order was taken promptly enough, however, it took a long time for our food to come out. Our food was warm, not hot, when it came. At no point during the meal we were asked if everything was satisfactory. Atmosphere: it was basic, which wouldnât have been as much of a big deal if the other elementsâfood and serviceâwere above average. The music was far too loud. I realize you canât please everyone with music choices, (modern country is not my first pick), but I can read the room and see to whom the music is being catered. Overall, it wasnât terrible, but I certainly wouldnât have driven four miles out of my way to go to a truly overrated restaurant. Maybe it was an off day for them. I felt like I was eating at someoneâs house I...
Read moreWe pulled over because of the sign out front. Home of the Famous Jessâ Hot Dog! I love Hot Dogs đ and we were looking for a quick lunch. So we each had a hot dog with chili. And I got the Cindy Burger - Bacon, Cheese, Peanut Butter and Jelly. I added pickles. The burger was good but there is room for improvement. The ratios of the ingredients specifically. Bacon should be in every bite. Too much jelly as it slipped out on the plate and there was still plenty on the burger and I would slather on more peanut butter to make it more a prominent flavor. The chili dog was average. But a great appetizer. Our waitress disappeared for long periods of time and we had to get up to find her. She seemed to be the only one working the front of house and although the restaurant wasnât busy there were a lot of milkshakes ordered which takes time. The restaurant was clean although...
Read moreFood was fine- not nearly as delightful as the original Jessâ Lunch. However, service was horrible. We arrived with ample time before closing, and were greeted with âweâre closing soon, the grill is off, but if you can order something quickâŚâ so, it rubbed us wrong and we clearly asked would it be too much trouble to order. We made a quick and simple order, nothing fancy. Cheeseburgers and the classic chili dog. The food eventually made it to our table over 30 minutes after we ordered, was dropped off and we were told âgrab it and go.â The passive aggressive attitude wasnât very kind, not to mention the cussing and yelling coming from the kitchen between the waitress and cook staff. Itâs a shame such a great legacy and name has been ruined by a chaotic and unfriendly...
