Macado's bills itself as a neighborhood bar. It plays out more like a twist on Applebee's or O'Charley's. We were trying to decide which building it used to be. The decor has been changed so that almost every bit of wall space is covered with quaint photos and Liberty University memorabilia. Jade welcomed us brightly and seated us, taking our drink orders right away. That's a nice service touch. The fare is mainly sandwiches and burgers, with a section of wraps and appetizers. It's mostly bar food oriented food. The portions are huge, too, so consider sharing. Two of us ordered burgers, which were big and tasty. We had the chips and onion rings. The onion rings were excellent. Good, flavorful onions and a crispy batter. The Reuben sandwich was reported to be a little flat in taste, but was helped tremendously by the horseradish aoli, which was requested on the side. I had the Irish Nachos. This was a gigantic serving of nachos--chili, lettuce, black olives, cheese sauce, and jalapenos--but served on a bed of the chips. They did not seem to hold up as well as tortilla chips might have, and were overall a little bland. The chili was not spicy. On the whole, all the dishes seemed to favor portion extravagance over flavor. It didn't taste bad, but it did nothing to distinguish itself from any other place that might offer the same things. There's a long list of sandwiches with enough variety to satisfy any group or party. They have Coke products, and a full bar which we did not sample from this visit. Macado's deserves a couple more visits to sample a few sandwiches.

Macado’s used to be top-notch! From the location in Lynchburg to the one in Beckley, WV and another in Boone, NC... I was always seeking to savor a Macado’s sandwich. Unfortunately, over the past 32 years of being a faithful patron to the above three locations, I have found Macado’s to have become lazy, both in their food preparation and their staff. Most recently, Lynchburg’s location, my focus here, was not a pleasant experience. The wait staff ignored the room of customers, drinks needed refilled throughout the room, and staff disappeared for lengthy amounts of time. This was a slow, weekday lunch time when my party was present, so the lack of attention was unnecessary. The normally-fabulous Macado sandwiches were piled high, but the hot sandwiches were cold, the cold sandwiches were on stale bread, and the potato salad and macaroni salad were unusually bland. Even the chips arrived in carelessly smashed-up pieces, instead of whole chips. What could’ve been an easy hour-in and out lunch was a seek-and-find two and a half hour nightmare that ended in a chipper unassuming checkout girl asking, how was your meal today? Well, it sucked, and it was embarrassing, and I really did not want to pay you for it. (But I did.) I’ll be rethinking future visits to Macado’s. The Lynchburg location is now off of my list.

We were looking for somewhere new to try while we were in Lynchburg and found this fantastic spot. Nice atmosphere, our server was ok, not amazing, but attentive for the most part. Their menu is HUGE! Lots of choices from apps to mains, sandwich menu takes up the entire back side of the menu! My wife got the burger with egg and bacon on it, she would have preferred the yolk to be runny, but she wasn't asked how she wanted the egg cooked so possibly that's just how they do it, the fries were standard crinkle cut, nice and crispy. I had the classic Ruben which was delicious. The macaroni salad was perfect as far as I'm concerned, not too much mayo and nice crunch from the bell pepper. Highly recommend this place. Enjoy!!

Let me start by saying that I am a very easy-going restaurant patron. I typically only get on here to leave praise for places. However, I am leaving this review to warn others about one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had in my life.

We were a party of 9 and arrived shortly after 6pm on a Saturday in February. The restaurant was half empty. Despite this, they told us they could not seat our party at any of the large empty tables that could have accommodated us because, “the waiters were fighting.” Instead, they split us into two groups, at separate tables on separate checks. They then cleared the large tables and seated another party several minutes later.

After making our orders, including an order of mac and cheese for our 3 year old, we waited close to TWO hours before ANY food was brought out. We did not make any special requests or orders, but every order that made it to the table was wrong. We saw other tables get seated and get their food before any was brought to us. We left after 2 and half hours, and in that time, we still never got one of our entrees. An order of buffalo wings. When we asked about it two hours in, we were told they were “taking a minute.”

We asked to speak to a manager, something I have only done one other time in my life. We were told he was busy. Someone finally came out, and said that they were busy because the restaurant was full. I pointed out that about 9 of the booths in our area were complete empty. He wanted to argue with me that there was a whole other half of the restaurant (which was also half empty by the way). He said he would discount the bill.

When he brought the bill, it included several drinks we never ordered, and food we ordered but never got. He said that he would take off the charges for the food we never received, as if he was doing us a favor. At the end, he took $16 off our bill.

I asked several times for the name of the “manager” we spoke with but was literally ignored when I asked. I will never be coming back here and do not see how this place even stays in business. I have been to the one in Vinton and it is the complete opposite. This place is a dump full of rude and incompetent staff....

Our family visited this Macado's while at an event in Lynchburg. Food was meh... sandwiches aren't too hard to mess up, but we had to request corrections to oir order. but the service was sorely lacking. We were offered a booth, and we also ended up near the bar. Took 40 minutes for order to be served, and when inquiring about the order, the waitress/bartender proceeded to blame it on the order. No apology. 17 minutes later, our order arrives at our table. So we're eating. And I just so happen watch the waitress go to some people at the bar and apologize to them for serving our food to us. They were at the bar drinking and watching tv. We ordered food, waiting to be fed. What in the world.... thought that was a little odd... but the food was finally at the table.

After waiting almost an hrs (3 minutes short of an hour), we're eating, and while we eat, customers are seated at 2 tables behind us. Being that it was our waitresses area, I felt sorry that they were brought to our section because we had a waitress also working the bar and have a long wait as we had.

Surprise, surprise. These people were sat and served in 25 minutes or less! And of course, we were being squeezed in with service while this 2nd and 3rd group of customers received top of the game service. That was it for me.

It took several visits to give us everything we needed to pack up our leftovers and pay. I don't live in Lynchburg, but being so close to a university, I expected better service. Or maybe it was the apology to the people at the bar or the expedited service behind us... we sure didn't get an apology for taking an hour to begin eating and the fast service experience, but service is an important factor to create repeat clients, and it was way below my expectations. Especially considering the restaurant wasn't even crowded. Lastly, the ladies' bathroom was awful! In dire need of cleaning 😫

To each his own. Maybe others will have better, but this was our family experience. And...

When I first got there, the host got to me fairly quick. When seated, I waited for 12 minutes and no one came to get my drink order so I started to look around. I noticed that 2 other tables were also looking around for our server (they were there before me). I walked up to the host stand to just ask if our server knew we were there. Before I saw anyone, the table next to me who hadn’t seen anyone also came up. When a server walked by, I went to ask my question, and the lady from the other table asked if they were understaffed or something. She had been waiting for way longer than me. I wasn’t trying to be a jerk or anything, but the server saw our server and seemed very rude because she said to a women who turned out to be our server “these people are here complaining.” My friends arrived at that point so I left the conversation and went back to the table. We waited for another 10 minutes. Then finally saw our server. She took our order (at this point we had our food decided too), but we didn’t get our drinks for another 10 minutes, and about 20 minutes or longer before we got our food. One of my friends ordered two appetizers, and he only got one. After an hour or so, he finally asked if they were working on his appetizer. Turns out she never put the order in. He did get his food like 15 minutes later. We placed another order of drinks, and she had forgotten to put one of our drink orders in. She was really nice, but she was a terrible server. The other server who was rude wasn’t sympathetic to us. It’s not like I was being a “Karen”, I was super nice to the server. Just sucked because I wasn’t planning on being there for 2 hours with a lot of time in between before we got our orders. I can’t speak for my friend’s food, but I ordered the KC’s Chicken Mac & Cheese with broccoli and it was cold and surprisingly a small portion as it was considered an entree. I will never be returning. Macado’s just isn’t the same anymore. Very...
