I was skeptical about this place when we arrived, the place looked like a hole in the wall. The dining area is very small. Upon first glance, it looked like a bunch of people were crammed into a broom closet eating seafood. We walked up to a desk on the sidewalk, located in the front of the establishment, the service was prompt. A female employee asked us if we were dining in or ordering out, we didn't eat there because my wife doesn't like to eat elbow to elbow with other people. We ordered to go and we didn't have cash so there was a two dollar debit service charge, yes it sucks, but everyone who walked out from dining looked content, so we stayed the course. I ordered the large campechana, my wife ordered the large mixta and our son ordered two shrimp ceviche tostadas. My order was filling and tasty, my son really enjoys seafood and he also raved about his meal; my wife is very selective with her food and even she had nothing but praise. This place was recommended to us by my brother in law, who is kind of a local foodie, so we did have high expectations initially. In regard to cost, it is not the cheapest place, but that is expected, with the cost of everything being so high and typically the cost of seafood is not cheap, especially good seafood. Overall it was a pleasant experience, could there be improvements, ofcourse but that will come with growth and expansion. For now, let's just enjoy the spot. Lol P.S. I forgot to mention that parking is very limited so expect to park...
Read moreOkay let me start by saying my husband does the ordering for us here. We have only ever gotten the trays..he said they are called La Charola (and he likes to set me up to say things wrong so I may be lying 🤣🤣) anyway. These party trays come with all kinds of seafood but I'm only eating cooked stuff so we order ours with cooked shrimp, crab and veggies that's it. I'm sure their other ingredients are amazing but I'm not doing it especially spending $80+$100! We usually get the $80+$100 tray depending on occasion/how many guests we have. EVERYONE that we have introduced this to is an instant fan. Few weeks ago we had about 10 adults and we cleared the $100 tray with no problem. We always used to get the Moreno sauce in the tray already mixed in but the last few times we have ordered it was just too spicy for us to handle so we get it on the side and everyone can add however much they want. When I say it's spicy-its that spicy that burns you badly but you can't stop eating it because it's so dang delicious. We are actually ordering again this weekend and I'm already tasting it. They offer many many other marisco items here and it all looks great but I can only base my review off the trays (which I don't believe are on the menu) and trust me you will not be disappointed I'd you try it!! My photo is either the $60 or...
Read moreI was conflicted on whether to give 4 or 5 stars... I decided to give them 5 stars because of how tasty the food was and I blame the wait on the fact that I ordered a lot of food, I didn't call ahead and everything going on with the pandemic.
My order included: "Mata Cruda" , Botana Navolato, Botana Mitotera among other items and I must say everything was very delicious. Everything was prepared to go and I was impressed how everything was packaged as well! The To-Go presentation is stellar! The food tasted very fresh which is rare for seafood places in my opinion. The shrimp tasted especially fresh. Oh and try their special Mariscos El Moreno salsa! Only $5! So good.
My favorite part of my visit? Customer service. For the most part the staff here were very friendly and attentive. I loved their enthusiasm!
It made me want to come back and I'll more than likely do it soon!
You should too! I recommend calling and ordering ahead so you can make line in the "Line to pick...
