Ended up finding this place on a whim, through google Maps, after everything else was pretty much closed when we left a hockey game. Initially, pulling up the parking lot was a little weird. You pull in up hill & half of the spots are diagonal, half are straight against the building. In the front, they have a giant, probably 10', werewolf, which we all got a kick out of! The atmosphere going in was classic old school restaurant, & we were greeted by a super friendly hostess. We were seated in a booth, & no matter where you sat, you had a complete view of at least a couple of TVs... which my 17 year old loved because they had the March Madness games on. The patrons that were there all were having a good time, it seemed... just very positive energy. The busboy came quickly with waters and a... bowl of popcorn! Like restaurants would bring chips and salsa, I have never seen that before in all my years. But, the 8 year old was in HEAVEN because he didn't have the chance to get his popcorn before we left the game. The popcorn was really good & melted in your mouth. Definitely a hit! The waitress came just a few moments after & took our drink orders. They had a pretty good selection of beers, wines, and cocktails, as you were given 2 separate menus just for those. We did opt out of alcohol this visit, & the kids just got pops (2.99, Coke products). When the waitress came back with our drinks, she took our orders. My 8 year old wanted the children's cheeseburger, & the waitress advised us that it was a small slider style burger. I was VERY grateful she advised us of that. It was $7.99 & my little guy would have definitely still been hungry! So, he got a regular cheeseburger(15.99), medium well, w/ fries. My husband got the spaghetti & meatball dinner (19.99)... yes, singular lol it was 1 giant meatball . 17 year old got the chicken parmesan dinner(24.99). And I got the chicken caprese sandwich (15.99). Their dinners came with salads, which came out right away. They looked delicious & were really good portions. The ranch dressing was DELICIOUS! Hubby & 17 year-old ate them up pretty quickly. Right after that, I excused myself to the restroom. I was only in there a few moments & by the time I came back the food was at the table! The presentation was pretty good, everything looked and smelled delicious. The portions were comparable to most other restaurants we've been to, with similar pricing. Except the chicken parmesan, that was kind of a disappointment, especially for $24.99. There were 2 cutlets of chicken, grilled & not breaded, which isn't really traditional for a chicken parmesan. The serving of spaghetti was barely visible under these 2 stacked pieces of chicken. He said the flavor was pretty good, but he wished he would've gotten a burger instead. The 8 year old loved his burger & fries and was chowing them down. Hubby's spaghetti & meatball were also on the "eh" side. He said that the sauce was really good... a little on the thinner side, almost like a marinara instead of a traditional spaghetti sauce. But the meatball was where it became blah. He said it was more like a mini meatloaf & didn't have a good flavor. He ate the spaghetti & passed half of the meatball to my garbage disposal of a 17 year old & even he wouldn't eat it after taking a couple bites. My chicken caprese sandwich was really good, & I'm such a picky eater. I always get apprehensive when ordering chicken sandwiches because a lot of the times the chicken is dry or chewy or just off in some way. The chicken was SO good. My personal taste it could've used a little more basil and balsamic, but again that's my personal preference. The fries were a seasoned almost battered style, and they were really good as well. I do wish they came out a little warmer. The service was really good. The waitress was very friendly & attentive & there was a busboy who was consistently there clearing our table from our empty plates & cups.Total was about $100, with tip. Overall, we would come back, but 2 of us would definitely order...
Read moreI went with 2 friends mainly because it was close to the expressway on our trip to Barrington Hills. From the g+ description and their website,it looked like good food at reasonable price.I'm happy to say that was our experience. We were seated promptly and a complimentary bowl of hot popcorn (with refills) was delivered immediately. Another reason we chose this place was their good wine list and once again,we weren't disappointed with our selection. I am an iced tea drinker and the huge mug of freshly brewed (and not in a machine also used for coffee like some places!) tea was a nice surprise. Now,I'll mention a couple of problems...no sweetener of any sort was on the table, nor was offered when our sever brought the tea. Also, there were only 2 setups on the table and since there were 3 of us,I was left without a napkin and silverware.Okay,on to the food...and it was great. I had the swiss bacon burger on a pretzel bun which was cooked perfectly medium-well and served the way all cooked food should be,piping hot.I thought it needed more seasoning, though and the cajun green beans were a bit disappointing for $1.95 extra. My friends had a corned beef sandwich which they said and from the looks of,was also very good. They had french fries with theirs and said they were very crispy, which is not all that common these days.Since we were on a tight schedule,we skipped desert, but we would go back and try it next time. For less than $20 per person, not including tax and tip,I felt it was...
Read moreWent here twice in last month. First time I had 3 prime rib mini and was tasty. I wanted to come back for the meatloaf and was sorry I got that with cream of chicken soup. I usually don't use salt at all and sometimes pepper, it needed both since the soup was creamy and looked good, but was tasteless. The 2 onion rings that topped the meatloaf were greasy and soggy with the breading falling off them after I grabbed them. I got the garlic mashed potatoes that were also tasteless. I love mashed potatoes and looked forward to this meal since I had the prime rib, but was sorry I wasted $20 on this meal. I was ready to just leave the rest of the meal at table to just be trashed, but decided to take the leftovers just in case I decided to try it again.....I'm not a real veggy person, but the green beans were the best part of the meal, besides the popcorn that is originally brought to table to snack on......Servers both times were nice and helpful. Most of the prices...
