Soehrman Park — Attraction in Lyons Township

This place needs help. I go to the park with my kids 3 or 4 times a week. Never tried this one till today but I've driven by a lot. Looks decent from a distance - and hey there's a splash pad so this place must be pretty neat - right? Wrong. Desperately needs mulch. The ground is bare in most places and just muddy. The baby swings were literally filthy, partially broken. Goose poop everywhere. There were a few dozen geese in the baseball field- that explains it. Playground equipment was somewhat dated, and not for younger kids. My two year old plays at most parks just fine - he is way ahead of himself physically, but this park had this goofy ladder thingy like ten feet in the air with no real side rails too keep him from falling off. A bit scary and he always wants to go down the big slide so he climbed it like 4 times until I decided it was only a matter of time before he slipped. Maybe it is early in the season and they have not started the maintenance or something - but probably would only take my kids here when the splash pad was going. I was there on the fourth of July with my grandkids. The place was awesome, the grounds well manicured and clean. There are built in concrete rest rooms latrines instead of flush. Men/woman I was a little nervous about the floor and my grandkids. I ended up not using nor the children.

Beautiful landscape and field for such a small park. Baseball and soccer. Also there are workout machines outdoors for the adults and a water sprinkler/ splash park for the youngsters adjacent. Excellent park. Couldn't ask for much more in a local community park. There's something for the whole family. From a kid friendly water park, to soccer field, basketball court and workout machines.. this park has something for everyone. The one negative and it's not really the parks fault, but it's located near the i55 expressway. Can be a bit noisy...
