I've been coming to the Depot for years and it's always such a fun treat. The food is always delicious and the service is great! It's also always decorated so cute for the season (especially at Christmas). I was just there a few weeks ago with a friend and while the food was as delicious as always we were both disappointed to find out that they've stopped selling hot tea by the pot and instead have single tea bags and a list of flavors to choose from. When we asked why they've stopped selling their usual hot tea we were told that too much was going to waste at the end of the day. We probably live in an area where drinking hot tea is not as common, but I always saw plenty of people with hot tea whenever I went. And while I understand not wanting to throw out the extra tea at the end of the day, the hot aspen tea was actually always my favorite part of coming to the Depot, it was just as important as the food in my opinion. Is there a chance it will be brought back? Or a way to brew smaller amounts that would solve the problem of too much at the end of the day? I'd even pay more for tea if that would off-set it. It's not going to stop me from having lunch here because everything else is still fantastic, but it was a huge let down to realize there was no more hot aspen or...
Read moreI absolutely love the food at this shop; the chef must be a wizard. I just want to sit there and savor every bite of my panini, salad, or dessert. Their flavored butter is Heavenly, no matter what flavor they're serving. The servers are all friendly and eager to answer any questions about the dishes. The decor is beautiful & calming. The majority of customers here seemed to be affluent, entitled fancy ladies who never stopped gabbing, so there's a lot of din to try to talk above. Evidently, they're all used to such decadent luxury as none of them seemed too impressed by anything they were eating and even complained about things that I wouldn't have had an issue with. I know it's a tea room, and as such, you get delicate little portions, but I left feeling hungry still. It seems that you're paying for the atmosphere and presentation rather than the portion size. I'll just have to order extra next time, because it really is a magical...
Read moreA great place for a girls afternoon out. Large portions of food when you order their Tierfecta. The food is tasty and in the Tierfecta there are a lot of options.
There is no room for you to wait for your table. You end up having to stand in the store and have to keep moving around to allow shoppers to shop and people coming in and out of the team room. We had a reservation and weren’t seated until 20 minutes after the reservation. They were going to put us at a much smaller table to try to get us in, which would not have worked with ordering the Tierfectas. So we opted to wait for the larger table to free up.
Other thing is the tea room can get a little warm. As a result if you get one of the Creme pies, it is brought with the rest of your meal and get a little “melted” and room temperature. And Creme pies are typically better cold.
But it’s nice for a little tea room in a rural community. And it’s great to support a small...
