Cake Krums Cafe — Restaurant in Madison

I found this place just be happenstance and I'm so glad I did! The owner is super friendly and the prices are very reasonable. I bought some of their cupcakes and donuts. The donuts are a light cake texture that I could eat a dozen of at one time! The spice of the apple butter donut is phenomenal-strong, but not overpowering. The cinnamon sugar on top is the perfect amount and complements the spices well. I ate it too quickly to take a photo.. .

Heard great things about this bakery. Had them to do a wedding cake. 5 tiers largest being 12". To me that was asking for trouble because of the top 4 tiers being on a 12" base. But, that is what was ordered. The cost of the cake was a lot. There were no decorations on the cake, it wasn't a fancy cake but it is what my daughter wanted. The cake was delivered on the wedding day. No one saw and approved it before the lady left it...leaning. 5 hours later before cutting the cake it fell apart. I had to catch it and slap back on top. That didn't last of course so the couple had to stop everything and cut the cake. It was not possible for them to do the normal cake cutting with pictures etc. They had to take a small piece of cake and cut it off of the cake table and on a barrel. As if this wasn't enough, the cake was still frozen hours after delivery. No one ate the cake. It was not good. The cake had no taste and the icing was sweating and too sweet. The $900 plus cake got thrown in the trash!! What was most upsetting was the bakery insisted that the cake was not leaning, couldn't have tasted bad and it had to be something we did. Needless to say she didn't want to own any of the responsibilities....she sent me a private message just because I questioned a post on her page. I didn't say anything rude. Comments were deleted. She did give back about 15% of the costs for the cake.. I am going to say this is probably not the norm for her business. The cake tasting was good or we would not...

We chose Cake Krums to bake our wedding cake. Merri was absolutely fabulous from our cake tasting all the way until delivery day. She is a very busy hard working baking woman so we tried to only contact her when it was absolutely necessary to and when we did, she responded in a reasonable timeframe. The day of delivery there was a last minute tweak to the delivery schedule but she communicated with my wedding coordinator to work that out. Extra Tip: get yourself a wedding coordinator lol! Merri baked a very tasty three tiered, three flavored cake for us and the guests to enjoy. She also placed faux flowers I provided to her and our cake topper on the cake. In the pictures, you may see the cake leaning just a little bit, but I do not believe that was due to anything that Merri or her staff did. It was a little warm in our venue around the time we cut our cake at 7 PM and two of the icings were made of cream cheese. Overall we were satisfied and our guests are still talking...
