We drove about 10 minutes to Diego's Mexican Grill in Madison, IN, and it was absolutely worth the short trip! Even on a busy Friday night, we only waited about five minutes for a booth.
The entire experience was a perfect 5/5 for both food and service! I love judging a great Mexican restaurant by its refried beans, and Diego's passes with flying colors. I ordered the pork chimichanga and chorro beans, and the beans, both the refried and the chorro, were incredibly delicious. I was so impressed I ate all the beans and took the rest of my meal home! The salsa was equally fantastic, tasting wonderfully fresh and bright with a hint of oregano. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal too, making the food side of the experience an easy win.
The service, however, was truly stunning. Despite the restaurant being packed on a Friday night and us only seeing a handful of servers, our server, Tony M., was right on time for everything: taking our order, bringing our drinks, delivering the food, and checking in on us. We thought weâd be waiting forever, but Tony's speed and friendliness were impeccable. The best part? My husband always asks for special changes because he absolutely refuses to eat beans, and I was sure his modification hadn't been heard in the rush. But Tony came through and made sure my husband got exactly what he ordered, precisely how he ordered it the very first time. Great service during a hectic rush, accurate, timely, and friendly, you can't beat it!

Read moreMy friend and I decided to stop in on our way home. We thought it would be a nice family friendly establishment, but we were so wrong. It took 10 minutes to get a drink order in. Finally got our drinks (a sweet tea && a lemonade) && ordered our food. My friend specifically asked for lime with her appetizer. I ended up having to get up and ask a different employee for a lime because our server was nowhere to be found. The lady I had asked for a lime ultimately told me sheâd âbring it to the table, go sit downâ, so I went and sat back down. That same lady, who had been previously sitting down EATING WITH HER FINGERS, brought my food out and set it on the table WITH NO LIME. So okay, I give them 5 more minutes. After no lime, all this time, I get up again to go ask for lime. This time the women audibly says âOh my god, we will bring it to your table, go sit down.â I just stared at her in disbelief as she had her bare hands full of food again, begging as rude as can be. We then got a lime and got ignored by the entire staff for about 20 minutes, until a busser asked us if we needed anything. I asked for our checks, we went up to the counter && got ignored again. all around a bad experience. OH, AND MY FOOD WAS...
Read moreGosh, where to start. This restaurant really has a soft spot in my heart. I typically don't write reviews but felt compelled to do so. Upon entering the restaurant I was instantly greeted by staff members and the enticing smell of fajitas (I'll get back to those fajitas later).
My family and I didn't wait long to be seated. The restaurant was socially distance, which we appreciated. Our waiter recited the specials (which all sounded fantastic) but we knew what we wanted. I ordered the fajitas, my husband ordered the tacos locos and my kids ordered chimichngas. Since we were in vacation mode, I decided to splurge a bit and have a margarita. That was the best decision. It was the perfect balance. It was sweet, sour, and oh so right. Once our food arrived it was game over. We were in heaven. Everything looked fantastic and tasted even better. My fajitas were perfectly seasoned and the tortillas that came with it were to die for. Like, literally, bury me with those tortillas. My husband loved his food so much he had to loosen his pants by the end of the meal. My kids, the picky eaters, ATE EVERY SINGLE BITE.
This restaurant is fantastic and I can't...
