Hello google users here I am again writing another review for a restaurant in my community... I have been going to this restaurant for a while now and have really enjoyed the food a lot more in there new location being run out of a small Mexican supermarket near highway 256 on Clifty drive in Madison. I can say that I've never been disappointed with the service or the food everything is wonderful here so I cant really say that something is better than something else (ie try the enchilada's or the Carnie Asanda tacos), everything that I have ordered has been exceptional. The one thing that I can say however is how great the Salsa is. The fresh salsa has always been extremely fresh. The salsa roha/taco sauce is perfect and it really reminds me of the taco sauce that I got at Albertos in California, its perfect! In Mexican restaurants the secret to success is in the quality of the salsa, bad salsa ruins the whole experience. Its like going to a wrestling event and sitting thru a poor promo before the wrestling match. No matter how great the match is it can never pull the rest of the evening out of the dumpster. Tapitio really gets this and like I said the salsa is great, its on point. This place is truly head and shoulders above every other Mexican restaurant in Madison. Gladys and Michelle along with everyone else are really friendly and really make me feel like I am at home in their establishment. I realize that since the pandemic has hit many restaurants have been forced to water down the food. without going into too much detail I can say that compared to the competition this place has not watered down anything since the pandemic hit. They moved to a smaller location and have actually improved their game. If you enjoy authentic Mexican food and are in Madison Indiana this place is...
Read moreNoticed the generic Mexican decor on the way in. Nothing bad about it, I've just seen it used too often. There was a empty fountain in the middle of the dining room. As a family of 5 we were seated at a table with 6 chairs but the table was only big enough to seat 4 people comfortably at max. Needless to say once the 2 plate meals hit the tables there was a lack of personal space. Even before the meal we were shoulder to shoulder. The waiter was the best part of the restaurant. He was polite, timely, offered to have the cook fix a overcooked steak, and I even noticed him cleaning the walls on his down time. I also noticed another employee mopping floors with very heavily scented mop water, which didn't smell bad, but did make my stomach turn while eating. My food came out looking good and sizzleing but that was the only satisfying part. Beneath the melted coating of cheese I was basically left with charcoal. Among the ingredients on my plate, I noticed at the bottom, chunks of what looked and tasted like canned cat food. I could only assume it was the "Oscar Meyer" weiners I ask to be excluded. I definitely left unsatisfied, but not before politely giving a message to the waiter when handing him a tip. I suggested him to tell his cooks to turn down the heat and I wasn't talking about the spices. No second...
Read moreHeard this was good, so I tried it out. Atmosphere and service seemed comparable to the usual Mexican restaurants, menu seemed to have less selection, but had what I usually order elsewhere. The refried beans were liquid-y, I thought they were just so hot that they had no consistency. I found it odd that the menu made it a point to state fajitas jalisco comes with four (4!) pieces of shrimp. I mean I wasn't counting, at least not until they pointed that out to me, so when I counted, I only received three (3!) pieces of shrimp! The beef was also skimpy.
The "salad" was a big bed of old iceberg lettuce, why even bother? The tomatoes on this salad was treated with something pungent and revolting. Not hot, but I can only say it would be as if you had an old container of chili powder in the back of a moldy cupboard that had absorbed moisture and then dried over the course of 20 years and used that to add essence to your meal.
I thought I could take the leftovers home, as I usually have some from any Mexican restaurant, but when I tried it, the off-taste settled into the whole meal at that point. Into the trash it went. My first and only time, and it will be the last. I hate to review after only one time, but I never want to taste any of their...
