Clifty Garden Center — Attraction in Madison

I am an 80 year old woman. Yesterday I purchased 3 small cartons of very small plants. One random plant (so small you could barely see it) had stuck to my other trays, unnoticed by me. Checkout lady saw the tiny plant and took it off and laid it aside. I said you can't just give that one to me? She said nothing, just laid it aside. When I returned home and planted my plants I noticed that one tray had a plant missing. I thought about it and decided to go tell the lady. When I arrived the owner of the place came up to me and wanted to know if he could help. I told him what happened and that I wanted to tell the lady. He became instantly on guard and said that I could not talk to the lady. He was shouting at me and grabbed me by the arm and was ushering me out while shouting at the top of his lungs for me to GET OUT, GET OUT...very red faced and angry. I had did nothing to make him so angry except wanting to talk to the checkout person. He scared me so much that I wasn't sure what to do. I LEFT. I had never been treated this way in my entire life! I understand why the poor clerk didn't say a word when I asked about the free measly plant. She's probably afraid to say anything. Just wanted people to know be careful if you have any kind of returns or dissatisfaction. He doesn't handle it well, to say the least. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT ON THIS...

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would!! I was at Clifty Garden Center May 19, 2023 and heard the owner screaming and yelling at an older lady and throwing her off his property. I have never seen such an unprofessional attitude coming from a business owner. I don't know what was going on but her actions did not seem warranted of an extreme reaction by the owner, screaming and yelling and taking her by the arm and leading her off the property. Regrettably, I witnessed this horrible behavior as well of the owner with a beautiful, older lady. I was hesitant to leave a review and get involved but felt that it was best that people know how abusive this man was. The awful behavior that I saw exhibited by the owner was so horrible that I will not support this business again. Maybe he had a bad day but that is no excuse to disrespect the elderly...
