Dutch Mill Sports Club — Restaurant in Madison

We are from out of town and intentionally planned ahead to stop here as a majority of us like to do karaoke and saw this was the most promising spot based on reviews. Let me tell you, disappointed was an understatement. The service at first was not bad, actually rather decent to get drinks/shots etc; We got to the bar around 11pm and got in for a song within about an hour. I have sought out karaoke bars across the state whenever I travel and have NEVER had an experience as bad as this one, ever. Every person in our group only got to do one song, despite being there almost three hours and only being about 1/3 capacity after midnight. Abruptly at 1:20am right before we were about to get to sing ONLY our second song of the entire night, the DJ comes on and says no more songs can be sang and it is now last call. The bar is advertised as open until 2am and nothing stating karaoke ends early. At this time the bartender became very disgruntled with our party and (borderline) threatening in an attempt to get us to leave. We are staying almost 20 minutes away and cannot just “leave” since we had Ubered there to be safe. Between the treatment by the bartender, lack of being able to sing, or any of the other previously mentioned reasons leads me to name this the WORST bar I’ve visited in Wisconsin. I’m embarrassed to have contributed $1 to this place. The group of 10+ people who I convinced to come here spent plenty of money that I would’ve rather gone to almost ANY other business in the state. Ive been going here for 9 yrs. It's a great neighborhood bar, friendly staff and patrons who become family, where everyone knows each other and everyone has your back. I'm shocked by some of the other unjust reviews..... really, move on if you can't handle the environment. Us regulars will keep the place going. Dutch Mill is like a home away from home. Love the new manager, Joanne, positive, friendly, kind...she has really added so much and made some great improvements with new and improved menu, more drink offerings, and just makes the place bubbly and fun. I look forward to seeing her every week. 5 stars...

Went on a recent Friday around 4. About 8-10 customers were there. I nudged my first empty glass forward...and waited. Waited some more. Then my husband did the same. And we waited. A second bartender (I think?) had come in. The two stood behind one end of the bar chatting. We waited some more. The two didn't seem to look up/around even once. We waited well over 15...
