My post got deleted so I will repost until I get an apology. I am a single mom with two little girls who came down to visit with family for a few days. My family had asked us to meet for breakfast before heading back home 7 hours at the starlight diner. Well I accidentally pasted the diner and turned into Rita’s ice cream thinking I could pull back through bc at this point in time in the morning with everyone leaving headed back home there was no way I could pull out and make it back to the diner. I never saw a towing sign it was pouring down rain and I thought it is an ice cream shop that does not open till 12. FYI we were eating breakfast. So I park and me and my littles run in the rain to the diner just to come out an hour later to our car towed. As she watched from her ice cream shop me and my littles stand in the pouring rain and try and figure out what to do she never offered a helping hand. Someone walked by and told us the Mrs. Rita was a wicked old lady and has done this to many ppl. So I finally got in touch with the tow company an hour and 1/2 away and they said I would have to have cash FYI $250 to get my car out. Which I did not have so I had to figure out how to get to a bank and how to get an hour 1/2 to the tow company with my two girls in the rain by myself all because she is a bitter old lady who apparently must not like children as she let me and mine sit out in the rain. So no I would not refer Mrs. Rita and her ice cream and I will post this as many times as I have to and I will have my family and friends post it as well. My family has visited her ice cream shop many times and said they will never be back after this and she should be ashamed. So delete it again and they...
Read moreGood little spot to grab a quick treat. Small shop, very clean, good Covid precautions, friendly staff. Fairly wide array of selections -- Italian ice, soft serve, hand scooped custard, shakes/melts, etc.
Also a good number of flavor options, toppings, and combinations are available. I had the hand scooped mint custard with Oreos. It was a touch too minty for me at first, but I got into it after a few bites and enjoyed it a good bit. Rita's understands that if a flavor says it has cookies in it, you better be able to tell. I got at least a small piece of Oreo in almost every bite, so that made me a happy camper.
Try them out if you're in the neighborhood! I think Super Chix has better (creamier, less icy) custard, but that's a far drive from Madison and they do have a smaller number of flavors available. This is quite a tasty option if you don't feel like heading...
Read moreTodays event at Rita's was a joke went in this morning to participate in what was suppose to be a chance to win a year supply of Italian ice and to my surprise the owners gave all the tickets out the night before, but they had stated that this would take place on June 1st which is today. The general public did not have a chance due to the owners. Had we known they would be given out the night prior we would had been there. The owner stated he gave them out due to an elder woman who was waiting & hot at 11pm. That baffles me because not only you close at 9pm and the young as well as the old spend their money at Rita's. This is BAD business that will lead to No business that eventually puts you OUT of business. My friends and family were there also we all thought this to be bad business this was bittersweet and we decided to take our...
