I was contemplating writing this review simply because I hate to put down a local small business but I just can’t get over our experience yesterday at this boutique…

My sister needs new clothing for her new job. My mother and I (whom I was visiting) went to Blu Boutique at around 1pm. We shopped for a few minutes but I started noticing wondering eyes from a young man in the store. He would legit stare and us, he kept asking if we need a dressing room and wouldn’t take a simple, “no, thank you,” as an answer. I worked retail for 3 years I know when I’m being watched for stealing. I have never nor will ever steal. This business has had some bad experiences with stealing in the past, I’ve seen it on the local news. I feel for them, I do. But it’s completely wrong and inappropriate to your customers to watch them thinking they are automatically going to steal. I was wearing nice clothing and had a designed purse, my mom as well. We didn’t need to be watched! When I wanted to try on a pair of jeans, I was told he needed to “check behind the mirrors” as my mom had tried on sometime a few minutes before me. He told me people hide things in the paper behind the mirror. It just felt gross!

As we left and went to pay for my jeans, he went to the I’m assuming manager and said to her, “oh I need to check behind the mirror before they leave.” All I tried on was the jeans and I was buying them!!!!

From the moment I stepped into BLU I personally had a wonderful experience! When I entered, I was greeted and asked if there was anything I could be helped with. I told her about a weekend event coming up that I was there shopping for "more options" for. She replied that she would get her team right on it. And they sure did! There were probably about 4 women running around the store picking out different pieces for me to try on. I stood there not even sure what to do (the store is huge). Then was told I could go ahead and start trying things on and they would continue bringing me more as they found more. It was nice because they picked out things I may not have picked out to try on (whether I liked it or not) but it at least opened by mind to other styles I may not have considered. All the ladies were extremely sweet and helpful. In addition, the store offers military discount (on regular items; clearance is exempted).

The only downside (and the only reason for docking a star) is they do not have a return policy but a 10-day exchange. Because of this policy, I put one item down since I wasn't sure I loved it but considered buying it to see what all I had to go with what. If I ended up not liking it, I would have to rush back to the store to exchange it when I get back from my trip. Not ideal for me.

I will tell you I have been doing business with Todd and Darlene since they were The Funky Monkey and I will support them as long as they are around! They are so fair and so kind. As they have grown their attitude and attention to the customer has not changed at all. I will continue to buy furniture, home accessories, clothes, shoes, and jewelry from them.
