Edit: I have been coming here for the past many years. The lady with short hair and glasses is plain rude. Each visit she has new problems. She assumed my ethnicity when I requested no eggs in food as my hub doesn’t like it. She assumed and did NOT put mushrooms too in my rice saying saying “why you Indian people don’t eat mushrooms and eggs, is this religious thing?” Umm I answered no it’s not we eat mushrooms. Yesterday I called for order and I requested to make sure there is no meat contamination as I have anaphylaxis reaction to meat. She said it’s common sense you are ordering with tofu so we don’t put meat in it. It was a simple request which she could have followed by not using the same pan. My parents are restaurant owner too and we take people’s req serious. i think there is a language barrier as she doesn’t speak English. Gladly, there was another girl working who speaks English and was able to understand and assist me. I have been coming here since they open and support their business rigorously. Countless people been their regular because of me, yet this rotten attitude of the lady with ruin their business. I’ll obviously continue to support this business as it’s our favorite but it’s about time for the lady to retire or not work front facing job.
Prev review: Been here several times. Delicious homemade like food. They just take time to make it. I would say they take more time as compare to most restaurants, but the wait is worth it....
Read moreThis was my first time trying the food when visiting family in Madison. We order about 5 main “dishes” and 2 appetizers. For appetizers, the vegetable egg roll was large in size, but for a single order, there was only 1 piece. The fresh vegetable spring roll was large (again only 1 roll cut in 5 pieces). This was tasty, but wouldn’t recommend for take out since it’s laid on plum sauce, which makes it soggy by the time you eat it. We ordered the red curry (c3) and green curry (c10), at a spice level of 3. The were delicious and my favorite! Both had unique differences in tastes from each other, making them unique than some Thai places. The friend rice #2, at a spice level 3 was spicy but tasty. The other two dishes, which were drunken noodle and veggie pad Thai weren’t to my liking, but not the worst that I have had either. I gave them 4 starts because the noodle dishes could have been a bit bigger portion for the size, and perhaps the tofu could have been cooked more prior to putting in the dishes (positive in tofu: wasn’t over cooked making it chewy). I would only return to eat the curries and vegetable friend egg roll when in town again. Great find! PS, they only accept cash or check...
Read moreI can't stress enough that the wait is worth it. I've called at 5pm to place an order and not had it ready until 7pm because it's packed with customers on a busy Saturday night and there are only two kitchen staff. Plan ahead and be patient, it's worth it! Any night other than busy Friday and Saturday the wait is still an average of 30 minutes because of the care put into the food.
This is not an American-Thai restaurant. The owner is from Vietnam and all her recipes are traditionally made. The menu includes Thai, Vietnamese, Hindi and Filipino dishes. You receive A LOT of food for what you pay, more than enough for one sitting.
I recommend the Vietnamese spring rolls because it is a fresh spring roll, the other spring roll is fried.
It is authentic food and a quiet atmosphere. The only thing to watch out for is the hours - she travels overseas for part of the year and you might find the restaurant closed. The hours listed on this Google page are definitely incorrect. I never see her open throughout the day, more like...
