My wife and I have tried almost every pizza place in Madison and we love ❤️ Ian's.
We hadn't been in a while and we decided to write a review about how great it was the other day it was when we had delivery.
Ian's across-the-board is one of the best pizzas for the price and taste that you can get. Of course this is my opinion people like different kinds of pizza. Some people like deep dish some people like New York style excetera excetera. I would compare Ian's to New York style pizza. It's very thin and very large pieces. It's the kind of pizza that you can fold in half. If you know what I'm talking about then that's all you need to know.
We love their 20in cheese pizza. The slices are huge, like out of a cartoon. It can easily feed a family of four, no problem.
The cheese blend they use is incredible. It's stretchy and slightly salty and wonderful. It goes great on every pizza.
Their red sauce isn't overly sweet or too spicy. It's a perfect balance in the middle that appeals to everyone.
Their crust is my wife's favorite part. It's not cracker thin, more like new York style that's thin enough to fold while you eat and the end pieces are chewy and yummy. You can even buy the dough to make your own pizza at home, which is a great deal!
My wife absolutely loves their Buffalo chicken pizza. It's spicy and yummy and sprinkled with creamy bites of blue cheese that cools the heat.
One of our favorite parts of Ian's is that in the restaurant you can buy pizza by the slice. This is great for a few reasons. First, their slices are huge so you only need one or two to fill up anyway. Second, they have so many different types of pizza (like mac and cheese or loaded potato) that would be great to try, but you might not want to order a whole pizza in case it's not your favorite. It allows you to try out some new flavors without committing to a whole pizza.
We also love their breadsticks. Their made from the same dough as the crust so they're thick and chewy, dusted with parmesan and Italian seasoning. They're massive as well so it's a great deal to order for a large crowd.
We love Ian's and order it everytime we have company since it feeds a crowd and it's a huge...
Read morejust went to ian’s on break to grab a bite. prices raised again so pulled up with 10 and couldn’t afford 2 slices. didn’t know until counter, told the girl i only had 10 and she looked at me like i was stupid. i was like uh okay i guess i’ll just take one. she said ok. I worked at ian’s in milwaukee, we were encouraged to be kind and giving, especially because they throw out almost as much as they sell… I would always give free slices to folks who couldn’t afford them or felt like they had to pick the cheapest piece when they were hungry! That was encouraged by management and acceptable. I figured that was akward and i felt embarassed but they would probably put both my slices out anyway and i was happy to take them cuz that was very embarassing and counter active to their mission / vibe. Nope, miss counter tattled, and miss pizza waited with my slices in her hand. ‘she told me you. only wanted one, which one?’ Again; extremely embarassed i said i don’t care, ‘your get to choose’ she said with a rude look on her face. I asked ‘aren’t you gonna throw this out?’ ‘Nope’ with the deadest look on her face. It was giving a girl from higschool who didn’t like me, spite… why? Extremely unprofessional and i inviting. Ok, maybe if they don’t feed you, i would get wanting to take it if your hungry but ian’s staff get all the pizza they want .. i didn’t even eat pizza by the time i was done at ian’s cuz we got so much. Likely will not return to this location, despite working in the building because of how embarassed i feel and mean spirited that10 min interaction was. should have asked for a name. makes me think management must be mean cuz there’s no reason to treat customers like that. from my expirneces you will be tipped the difference if you give a free slice in this situation. Anyway, horrible expirence on my break just trying to...
Read moreOutstanding full-service caterer for our wedding dinner! Ian's is a Madison staple - we have always loved visiting the State St. location for a couple of slices. When we got engaged we were vehemently opposed to traditional plated wedding dinner and saw that Ian's had a catering menu, so reached out. You'd think a pizza joint would just show up with a bunch of pizza boxes and plop them on a table and leave, but that is not the case when they provide catering. Ian's comes to you/your venue, sets up a smaller version of their in-store finishing oven, and supplies fresh pizzas to your guests for the duration of your meal. We also got salad and breadsticks and all were delicious (you need to try their ranch dressing). The customer service from catering manager and his team were awesome - he was extremely responsive, set up a tasting with us where we got to try so many slices, and the catering team provided delicious and fresh pizzas. salads and breadsticks to our wedding guests on the day of the event. Do not sleep on this catering option for your big events - you will not be...
