My friends and I have been to RollPlay many times in the past, it is a favorite spot for us to hang out. The food is always delicious and the board game selection is large; however, tonight I experienced one of the kindest gestures from a restaurant ever. I usually order their Singaporean Chicken (very good btw) but I decided to switch it up and go for the Taiwanese pork bowl. Unfortunately it wasn’t for me, and it was 100% a personal taste thing. I don’t like fennel or anise and I can’t stomach it. The dish contained one of the two or something similar. I didn’t want to cause any trouble because again this is fully on me and I am a firm believer that it is not the restaurant’s responsibility if I don’t like the taste of something I picked. After seeing if anyone wanted to take it home or eat it, I decided to just place it in the bus bin. The Server/ Host that was on duty + the manager noticed my food in the bus bin. He came up to our table to make sure everything was alright. I told him it wasn’t for me but that it was okay and he immediately asked me if they could get me the Singaporean chicken instead. It’s also about 10 minutes to close and he was very kindly insisting, I was so so appreciative. They offered me the whole Singaporean meal last minute and was extremely nice. I cannot thank them enough and I was beyond touched. I wish I handed it to him directly but we left extra cash in the tip jar as a thank you. This was 09/15/24 so if the employee who very kindly helped us we thank you greatly and you...
Read moreI love this place. The staff, the food (Korean) and the games are amazing. Teokbokki was amazing!!! They would waive $5 fee if you spend more than $20 as a group, which was really nice.
There are a lot of games, they said more than 250 games. The location is perfect with other restaurants or a pizza place like Ian’s pizza. The restroom super clean right next to it.
One thing I would like to add is to have staff become the expert of the games and help explain how to play each game briefly or recommend games based on the styles of games players are looking for. I have been to different board game cafes in different cities. They always have something like that. The first time we were there, we spent most of the time reading instructions. Now that I’m thinking about going back, I feel a bit discouraged because it feels like I can’t just spontaneously go there and have fun but I have to do some research of what games they have and what I want to play and learn how to play it first so I don’t waste time reading instructions again. And when it comes to games and fun, it shouldn’t take this much effort.
Just some suggestions you can consider. Your place has a lot of potential and I’m...
Read moreI've only done take out items from Roll Play but it is super cute and has a great vibe! Very chill nerdy vibe, like cool nerd ambience. Staff were very friendly and acknowledged my presence right away even though he was busy with another customer. It's very clean and organized and they have loads of games. The boba is served with those sealed tops so you can worry less about spilling. I got my kids take out food that the said was good (I didn't try it). Clearly under Korean ownership based on the menu! I did order from their website and was initially given a pick up time that was an hour+, but was contacted by Roll Play to say my order can be ready in 15 minutes. They prefer online orders, but I suggest calling about pick up time. You can drive to the back of Garver where there at steps that lead directly into Roll Play for...
