I came to Clean Juice for the first time today, and I am disappointed to report it will be more than likely be my last. Everything about the experience was horrid, and it amazes me to see such a high rating for a place my entire party of five found mediocre at best. I'll be giving it 2 stars for the following reasons:
For starters, everything is morbidly overpriced. $11 for a sandwich for example, and the juices are at least $10. There are very little options on the menu for those with nut allergies, and there are zero options for the juices and smoothies on the menu for those with a complete nut allergies (including bananas). Due to my nut allergy, I spoke with Joe about substituting milk in for the almond milk, but they don't have regular milk. I can't have the coconut water either being that coconuts are included in my allergy. Joe (from what I had thought) kindly offered to substitute in apple juice with my pineapple smoothie. This turned out to be a huge slap in the face, as when I got my receipt, I was charged $2.00 extra for apple juice! Joe (and the entire staff) did come off as friendly, so that's the only plus I can give this juice bar outside of the warm dƩcor and feel inside.
I ordered the Cali Sandwich with my smoothie, and it was dry and unappetizing. It didn't taste very healthy either. My entire party of five tried some to make sure I wasn't missing anything, and we were all very displeased. One of my friends had the BBQ wrap, and it was the exact same, not good at all. Not to mention, the sandwich took nearly 20 minutes to prepare and it was smaller than the size of a traditional sandwich. The proportions on everything are small, my buddy's wrap was no more than about 5 inches in length and could fit in a pocket. The sandwich was $10.99, and because I ordered only one ingredient in my smoothie, I was charged significantly more. I'd go as far as to say charging more for a smoothie because a customer has an allergy is discriminatory. My smoothie was $8.95 and $2.00 extra for the undisclosed apple juice charge, insanely higher than the $6.00 advertised for a smoothie combo with the purchase of a sandwich. The smoothie was good, but maybe $6 good, and definitely not $11 or anywhere close to that good.
If you're reading this review close to its posting date, I'd avoid Clean Juice. However, with every negative review I leave, I kindly request of customers to visit the establishment a few months after the fact to see if improvement has been made from the constructive criticism and report it in the form of either a positive or negative review. I wish Clean Juice all the best, it's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you're coming here, you probably know what you're signing up for. Whether or not you believe the hype around natural/organic - they are not immune to inflation, so expect to pay a premium for juices and smoothies.
Most of the menu options focus around juices and smoothies. There are some acai bowls and sandwich/toast options as well. I've only ordered smoothies from here when I'm in the mood for a light lunch. They make a very delicious smoothie with plenty of ways to customize nut butters, milks and alternative milks, and other "health boosters". I've never been disappointed with the quality of what I've ordered.
The prices are high. Their largest smoothie before any customizations is around $12-14. It's hard to justify spending that much for a smoothie which is why I don't visit often, but if you find value in the quality of ingredients, this won't be an issue for you.
The service needs some work here. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. However, there is very little sense of urgency. The staff is mostly teenagers who are learning, so I am patient because this is important. That said, there has to be more guidance and communication from management to ensure the team works efficiently and quickly. I haven't seen much of the few times I've been here.
All told, this is a great place to stop by and get a smoothie for lunch. Just order ahead so you don't get stuck waiting during...
Read moreAfter a long and draining shift, I stopped by Clean Juice Organic Café in Park Ridge, hoping to recharge with something clean and nourishing. While the store gives off a healthy and welcoming vibe, my experience raised serious concerns about hygiene.
While preparing my juice, one of the staff members sneezed into his gloved handāthen continued to handle ingredients without changing gloves. At that point, some ingredients had already been placed into the juicer, and I immediately called his attention. He then changed only the glove on his right hand, but by that time, I was already worried about potential contamination. No one offered to clean the equipment, remake the juice, or provide reassurance, and no apology was given either. I ended up discarding the first drink and only kept the second one out of caution. I spent $28 for both orders.
For a place centered on health and cleanliness, this was disappointing.
I strongly suggest the staff wear masks or face coverings, especially since the juicing station is open and exposed. Alternatively, they could consider covering fresh produce and drinks with lids or shields when not in use. These simple steps would go a long way in protecting customer health and maintaining trust.
Clean Juice has great potential, but food safety must always come firstāespecially when serving raw,...
