I've been coming here since I was a baby, and other friends have come here since they were little as well. After moving back to Chicago, one of my friends and I were craving some jjang pong and mongolian beef and while we used to go to places far more convenient and well known, we ended up coming here over and over and over again. I would either take the blue line or Metra from Chicago and my friend would pick me up taking at least 2 hours round trip just to go here, pretty much every Friday for at least two years and counting (at least 100 times in the last three years at this point), ordering pretty much the same thing (jjangpong no mussel, no mushroom [spicy seafood noodle soup] and gochujjapchae [stir fry pork with sliced vegetables]). Every time I go, the taste is a little different. Sometimes, it's a very rich broth, others a little less so but very flavorful. I talk to the owners, and trust me, they are really trying their best to make the food taste good and provide good service, and as a small business with the labor shortage, they are working day and night to provide a good experience for the customer. But every single person I have taken here has loved the food. Give it a try - but, I would highly recommend the jjang pong, gochujjapchae (eaten at restaurant), mongolian beef, and jja jjang myun in that order. Why do I have to go all the way to Niles to get this stuff? Because I've tried most Korean restaurants in Chicago and can't even come close with the jjang pong (too many shortcuts, broth too light, no flavor).
Please give them a try, trust me. It'll be worth it. Also, if anyone questions me having been there over 100 times in the last three years, feel free to show this review, and they'll probably say how crazy I am to go that many times (sometimes multiple...
Read moreI was lucky to throw my daughter a beautiful first birthday party at a restaurant that I grew up going to!
We celebrated with our 50+ guests in the private upstairs room which has a charming ambiance thanks to the lighting on the windows that overlook the main dining floor. There was ample space for 6 tables to seat everyone as well as three tables and a floor mat for our traditional Korean birthday ceremony.
Our 10-item dinner selection was served hot, fresh, and delicious! The servings were huge! This made eating family-style exciting and comfortable. Everyone has raved about the food to me in the days following the party.
Service was attentive without being intrusive, and there is a service call button which can be used in a pinch.
Last but not least, the owners were a dream to work with while planning this big party. They were kind and accommodating as we visited and called multiple times, and everything day-of was exactly as they promised it would be. (And for anyone planning a big event, it may help to know they speak English as well.) There is literally not a thing I can complain about as everything was above and beyond my expectations.
So if you’re looking for a place to have a private event, don’t hesitate! I’m so glad to have made a wonderful family memory here and hope to have a chance to...
Read moreBest chinese food I’ve had . I used to be a fan of lao Szechuan but this is my new favorite . It is a Korean Chinese restaurant but their Chinese food is so so good and authentic . Even though their food is flavorful and mild enough to suit the most spice sensitive palate , they can also kick it up several notches . If you are a fan of heat and order “extra spicy”, say no more . This is the first place where I’ve said spicy and they made it amazingly hot. They know how to make their food spicy. Even their chili oil is super spicy with tons of umami. This is a family owned restaurant and even though we are not regulars nor Korean, they treated us like family. The restaurant owner even asked us if she could mix our jajangmyeun noodles at the table . She said their noodles are freshly pulled and cooked in house . So good. Portion sizes are huge and they have lunch specials...
