We walked into the back of the store and were immediately asked by a very friendly woman whether it was our first time or not. We said yes and the first thing she said was let me get you a sample. She gave us the most tender delicious fell off the bone amazingly sauced ribs. Whew Baby!!!!!! We ordered a whole slab after that and were not disappointed. Portions were great and she cut those babies down real nice. Not only was the food good but her customer service is enough to make you want to return and hang out for a bit. Being from Pennsylvania, this is what I imagined Southern Hospitality to be. Anyway after some talking we learned she was one of the owners (named Black) alongside her sister. Woman owned and operated. Started with her dad and they took it over. 15 years of business. That was a beautiful thing to hear and especially how she talked to my daughter about being woman owned and how the same is possible for her as well. I appreciate women like her. It takes a village and especially for young ladies like usš¤š¤š¤ All the food was banging and we will be returning to try those sweet potatoes and potato salad. The mac n chz, collards, pineapple baked beans and sweet potato pie were fire š„š„š„ We had Ms Kimās last wknd and I must say Black and Bar B Que Boyz are my go to moving forward. We canāt wait to return!! Oh and that bbq sauceā¦. manā¦. at first I wasnāt sure looking at it but when I bit into it man⦠SPEECHLESS!!!!! The Brown Family from Pennsylvania will be back Ms Black!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have mixed feelings about rating Bar-B-Q Boyz low, because I want to promote black businesses. I'll just describe my experience.
I found their ribs rather chewy. It's because they don't slow cook them. They're grilled rather than slow cooked and smoky. It's because their grill isn't tall enough to separate the embers from the meat.
Another thing I don't like is I've seen them start their fire with charcoal lighter fluid. That's a big no-no with them. I've also seen them pour charcoal briskets right out of the bag - charcoal and black dust. This is while meat was on the grill. Three more no-nos.
To top it off, they're not always that friendly. I know friendliness don't cook BBQ, but I rate restaurants on good food, friendly staff and cleanliness. That's just me. I know they have a following, so they must be doing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTry the ribs! Found this place in a discussion about the best BBQ places in Central FL. Amazing hidden gem inside the convenience store at the gas station, with classic smoky and charred BBQ flavors, much better than the bland mass-produced style you find at chains. Dinner plates are generous portions and served up hot at the counter in just a few minutes.
The ribs have that incredible char smell you only get from authentic festival event and street American BBQ. Pulled pork is also delicious. The meat is moist and high quality, so weāve become fans. The sauce is also great and will appeal to classic BBQ lovers, leaning toward the tangy side rather than the sugary style.
Sides are great, too. Mac & cheese tastes like a homemade classic, thick and creamy but never watery. This is our new favorite spot - great food,...
