Donut Villa Diner — Restaurant in Malden

Just went here. Service was terrible and food was just meh. Service took forever just to acknowledge that we had sat down. Nobody greeted us, and they didn't ask what we would like to drink until we asked them for coffee. She didn't give is straws for our water, despite other tables clearly getting straws for their waters. It took another few minutes after getting coffee to get cream. It took half an hour for food to come out, we ordered French toast, side bacon, and Brussels style waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. The French toast was extra plain. It wasn't flavorful or crisp, it was heavy and oily. The bacon was cold but at least it was crispy. The waffle, despite requesting Brussels style which is light and crispy, was heavy and chewy. It was $2 extra for the strawberries and cream, which amounted to two strawberries and a small dollop of whipped cream. The maple syrup was thicker than honey and didn't taste like maple syrup at all, it tasted like straight corn syrup. It wasn't super busy when we went, most tables had two people although there were chairs for four at each. The donuts looked good but I didn't want to risk it after the bad service and food, and we had already wasted an hour just sitting there and were desperate to leave.

I won't be returning. The wait staff is stuck on senior citizen time, and the food is a senior citizen scam. It's one of the only breakfast places in Malden with a good amount of easy parking and they are milking all the veterans and Qtip looking old ladies who can't parallel park at or drive farther to a better place.

Next time, I'll just grab some junk from the Dunkin's in...

I am glad for the people who enjoy the food here. Unfortunately I never got to eat any. It took so long I ran out of time and had to leave.

I came in, sat at the counter, looked over the menu, and placed an order

People were coming and going, and food was being served, but not to me. A different waitress noticed me and looked concerned, and asked if anyone had taken my order. I said yes.

Still I kept waiting. I read articles on the internet, I checked emais, I bought tickets for some traveling I will be doing. Still no food.

After another long time my original waitress came over and said that my order would be right up. She refreshed my tea with more hot water.

By now there were far fewer customers than when I had entered.

It was then that I came to the conclusion that my order had just then been given to the kitchen. It must have gotten lost in the shuffle, and they were just now getting started on it.

Still, I waited another 10 minutes. The waitstaff were doing side work and the kitchen staff was busy working but there was no sign that any completed plates would be being offered any time soon.

I wrote a brief note to the effect of "Sorry, I am out of time" left enough money for the tea and soda I had consumed.

I ended up having some potato chips from a mini mart for breakfast. Not exactly what I had anticipated when...

While in the area, we found this place on a vegan blog! Wow- so glad we stopped in for breakfast! Super cozy & vintage diner vibes. Our waitress was friendly. They have a large regular menu with so many breakfast classics as well as unique stuff such as donut French toast. They have a separate vegan menu- which we asked for! They have an impressive vegan selection!

What we got: Vegan breakfast sandwhich. It was wonderful! Served on a warm English muffin complete with vegan egg, cheese & vegan bacon! donut French toast (not vegan). It came out with two massive donuts battered & fried with chocolate sauce & sugar. My friend said it was one of the best breakfasts she ever had. vegan donuts to go!!! Delicious!! I have had a lot of vegan donuts & this place was in my top fave! They were massive, super moist & delicious! The donut was so moist it reminded me of pound cake. We got a classic glazed & coconut - both were amazing! Do not skip on the vegan donuts!
