Great value and delicious food! We ordered a couple of vegetarian sambusas (they were out of non-vegetarian) and an Ethiopian Combo for two. Even though we loved it, our party of two adults and two kids around 10 years old couldn't finish off the abundance of food, so we took leftovers home to enjoy later. Service was friendly and very helpful in helping us figure out what to order given the kids' relatively low tolerance for spicy. I was hoping for more of a variety of Ethiopian beers, as listed on their menu online, but I was pleasantly surprised by and enjoyed my Castel Lager. We would have liked to stay for dessert, but we were stuffed.

Great food, good service and really nice people. We ordered 2 starters, ye timatim fitfit, I really liked it. The sambusas were unique and we liked the filling. In main course we ordered 4 different dishes. Tagabino, meser wot, cabbage wot, kaye sir. We really liked all three. If you feel like having comfort food then this is the place. Dishes are not overly spicy nor too fancy. It makes you feel like you are having simple home cooked food, which is great!😊 The chocolate cake in desserts was nice, the baklava was too sweet for me.

Delicious food -- I've enjoyed various Ethiopian restaurants over the years, and Mulu rates in the top. We had the vegetarian sampler option, along with two meat dishes: the sauteed lamb and beef cubes. All dishes where spectacular. The injera bread was delicious and airy. No gluten-free version, heads up for those allergic... We finished with delicious coffee and traditional popcorn. Will definitely cone back and highly recommend!

This sounds like a truly special place! A restaurant that transports its guests back to the medieval era with authentic meals and traditional serving methods is such a rare find. The idea of breaking apart a staple and using it to blanket the chosen dish is a unique and immersive touch. Lamb and steak tips being the most popular choices make sense—they’re hearty and rich in flavor. And it’s great to hear they cater to vegetarians with a variety of options.

The atmosphere is—calm, beautifully decorated, and filled with multicultural imagery—adds to the experience, making it not just about the food but about storytelling and heritage. It really does sound like a journey without the need to travel thousands of miles. Once you left the place the experiance stay with you indefinitly. Dont forget to say "Dehna Ederu" Have good night, Lunch time say "Dehena Walu"...

While the food at Mulu Ethiopian in Malden had good flavor, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Portions were noticeably small for the price, which was the first letdown. It only got worse from there.

We ordered entrees that explicitly stated they included eggs, and yet they were left out entirely—no explanation given. When we politely brought it up, the waitress was indifferent at best. No apology, no attempt to make it right, and no offer of a food swap or correction. It felt dismissive and unprofessional.

To top it off, we weren’t even offered a single refill of water during the meal—even with a toddler at the table. Basic hospitality was clearly lacking.

If you’re going out for a pleasant dining experience, this unfortunately isn’t the place. Good food can’t make up for poor service, missing items, and a lack of basic courtesy. We...
