Battleground Deli receives the seal of approval of both me, the local, and the longtime NYC resident who moved to this town from NYC! The attitudes of the local family-run bodega you can depend on, along with the quality of the food being freshly made â sometimes even freshly chopped â is really excellent!
I came in here because someone else in this site mentioned being made a really excellent Chopped Cheese â I can only find one other place nearby that has chopped cheese whatsoever, even if itâs not on their permenant menu. Here, at Battleground Deli, it isnât on their menu either â itâs one of those âif you know, you knowâ kind of menu items and âif theyâll make it, theyâll make it real good!â Needless to say, they indeed made it excellently â itâs so legitimate in the taste, seasoned very well and with a good amount of cheese and toppings! It is my go-to sandwich to get from here and no other place around has anything to match this!
My girlfriend, the longtime NYC resident, highly approves of the Chicken Parmigiana Sub â it greatly reminds her of home in the Bronx! The sauce, the breading of the chicken, the donenessâ the elements so simple do so much for making this sandwich perfect and itâs really quite something to say that this is better than the area Italian restaurantsâ equivalent, despite their all-day operations of serving this as one of their core dishes as well!
Battleground Deli has been here apparently all my life as a longtime resident of Manalapan and I am glad that, today, it still...
Read moreWent in and ordered the same thing that Iâve gotten several times, which Iâve asked multiple times if it was okay to order, and even offered to pay a little more for the healthy accommodation, a whole wheat wrap with a side of veggies instead of the fries. While the âchefâ was preparing my food, started having a conversation with the cashier that maybe they should put a menu in my bag because what I ordered wasnât on their menu while I stood 10 feet away and that they donât have time to accommodate me. I spoke up and said if itâs not okay to order what I order, to let me know so I donât order it. They told me that no no itâs okay, when the realized I heard what they said. I got back to work to open my meal and find for the second time in a row it was a white wrap instead of a wheat wrap. I took it back this time for a refund, and while explaining to the owner who was now there why I was asking for a refund, he ignored me, asked the âchefâ to âgive this guy a refund for whatever he is complaining aboutâ and then ignored me to look at his phone. I took my money and left. Last time I go to this local establishment that I frequently bring coworkers to and recommend to customers. Terrible service and will frequently get your order wrong no matter how...
Read moreStopped in for a sandwich and regretted it soon after. Upon entering the place, I immediately noticed the gentleman behind the counter wearing his mask below his chin. Interestingly enough, there is a sign posted on the door outside insisting that masks must be worn inside to receive service. Apparently the rule doesn't apply to this guy. Against my better judgement, I proceeded to place an order. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich with pepper jack cheese. I got it all the way home to find tuna salad with colby jack. I don't eat tuna, so this was a complete waste and went in the trash. Regret....
