This is the best breakfast in town. I think of it as the new Manchester. There's a new generation. That's what this place represents to me. I really like the energy here. The food is good. Definitely way above average. It's obvious that whoever is in the kitchen is interested in cooking. There's some creativity on the menu which is very welcome in our sleepy little town.
Original review: The best breakfast in Manchester. Yes, they are just starting but my hopes are high. We went for breakfast, today. The eggs are local and tasty. The surprisingly superb sausage is homemade. Real homemade blueberry jam! Coffee was way above average. We are eager to return for lunch.
As the slow morphing from what was the past becomes the new present, the fresh, present sincerity of people creating their dream can ring across the countryside. Manchester needs a restaurant with some down-home soul. I sense that these people have it in them.
Manchester is burdened by a deep history of nostalgia. As you go up Main street, the closed grocery store and the shocking exhibit of vacant store spaces rings of a past time. Nostalgia is a sweet deception. Yearning for the good old days is wishing for a way that probably never was. It will never be the way it was.
It's 2020. The future is here. This place may be the catalyst for a big change in Manchester. A new generation, a new vision of possibilities is simmering right here.
I hope they add to the menu. May they have courage to break out the common expectations that are easy to imagine people want. We're not going to live long on burgers and fries. I believe people want sincere, delicious, and healthy food. I wish these people well. The Manchester Diner may be what I've been hoping for. This place has so much potential. I encourage them with all my heart.
Things for them to consider; getting rid of that stale old memorabilia on the walls from all the previous iterations, a big chalkboard with creative daily specials, healthy food and maybe even growing into being open for dinner a few days a week.
I have lived adjacent to town for over 30 years. I've mostly given up on eating in Manchester because it's mostly the the same old thing, the easily expected (although Frank's can hit the spot). We often find ourselves wanting to go out to eat but the food we enjoy ends up being 20 miles away (I'm not talking fancy A2 stuff either - I'm thinking the Roadhouse or Oak Tree Lounge in Jackson. The Roadhouse has a very clever thing going. As the Manchester Diner builds on success, I hope they consider the clever menu of the Roadhouse on the north side of Jackson).
The next generation will save us. We are all in this together. May Manchester Live on! Support the Manchester Diner and encourage them not to fall into what they think people expect. May they have courage to follow...
Read moreOverall I was extremely unimpressed. I could see how a regular diner here might find this restaurant top quality. They tried to make the place look nice with the paintings and seeing choices.
The bathroom did not have lighting and there was a lamp placed in it with out a lamp shade? So when in the restroom I could barely see to wash my hands.
The staff was not professional and not attentive to customers. When we walked in we were not greeted. There is no sign saying to wait to be seated or seat yourself. There were some people cleaning tables and we had to approach them to ask if we could sit down. We waited probably 10 minutes for a waitress to even bring us menus and take our order:.. all while one was sitting and chit chatting and eating!!! Another server if you could call them that was wearing headphones and looked unprofessional. The whole staff was honestly unprofessional, the way they dressed in oversized sweatshirts that looked like they weren’t even wearing pants!! .
The food lacked any kind of flavor. Sure it looked nice. But the potatoes were flavorless. The bacon was chewy and rubbery. The portion sizes for the price was not worth it. For being a new customer, I had hope because of the other reviews. But was...
Read moreEvery so often, my partner and I stop by the diner for breakfast wanting to love it, and every time we are disappointed by our experience, but we keep trying.
I always get the same thing (corned beef hash) because I absolutely LOVE that they make their corned beef fresh but each time it is different. Some days there's a decent portion of the corned beef, but more often, there are mostly just crumbs of it.
The service here always feels chaotic and understaffed. And while I know how challenging it can be to maintain consistent staff, it is always apparent when we visit that they need more help. It does not make for a comfortable dining in experience.
Additionally, they tend to close early, or many days not open at all. I feel this is a symptom of Manchester businesses that happens frequently, that wouldn't happen in a larger city.
Leaving three stars because, while there is room for improvement, they are clearly making an effort with weekly specials.
We will keep stopping in occasionally because we want to see them succeed and to support our local...
