Ok so the old story of Google not allowing half stars so I'm actually going 4.8 is the actual score. I had gotten food here about 13 years ago and HATED IT to the point I hadn't eaten there again until a group occasion last year. The food was fantastic. I've eaten there a total of 4 times in the past year or so,twice in the last week and the food has been top notch. The bone in ribs aren't super Asian flavored, rather more of just a quality rib that if I got at a legit BBQ joint I'd be just as happy. Very nicely done with a minor smoker flavor and not sauced but very juicy. Crab Rangoons we're not sweet at all which is nice when you hate sweet Rangoons as I do instead they have a lite crab flavor accented by a nice balance of scallion and crisp delicate shell. The green beans were fresh and flavorful in a lite umami sauce. Please try the curry puffs as they are a different twist on the traditional Polynesian cuisine and hits more like a Chinese/middle east fusion and I don't think you're going to find them anywhere else. The subgum pfc was moist and fluffy at the same time. The wings had just the right salty note which brings me to the fact that none of it was overly salty as Asian food seems to be trending lately. Nice chicken fingers and very flavorful Polynesian style sweet and sour sauce with cherries and pineapple which balances many thoughtful flavors, not just sweet. I was a long time fan of heng won who I feel has gone down hill quite a bit in the past couple years. My only real criticism is when you dine in I believe the dining areas need better attention to cleaning policies. The tables, chairs and all plates, glasses and utensils are clean but the surrounding walls have random spatters from past diners. Otherwise cute little dining area with plenty of seating but still gives a private feel. They do also have a bar side if you choose and everyone always looks pleasant over there. Lastly the staff. I could actually tell my waitress was having a bad day on my last dine in experience but she never projected it on us, I can just tell. A few jokes helped brighten her up and she was very fast and accommodating the entire visit. P. S. Free refills on...
Read moreMy family ordered food on Saturday April 3rd 2022 for pickup around 2:45PM. We ordered $170.00 worth of food. That evening, after eating there was a lot of food left over. Sunday April 4th we set the food out to eat at lunch time. As we started to eat the leftovers a chicken finger was pick out of the Aloha’s container and had a strand of stainless steel approximately three (3) inches long imbedded in it. This piece was the same as you would be used to scrub a stainless steel pan to clean off food residue. (SEE PICTURE). Upon this discovery, everybody left the table sickened and disgusted. The remaining food was thrown away because no one wished to chance consuming a foreign object lodge in any of the leftovers. We made a call to the Aloha and asked to speak to a manager and were informed that none was available. We spoke to Nate (the acting manager) and explained the situation to him. He didn’t believe us, so we told him we would be right in to show him the chicken finger in question. We showed him the picture when we arrived, Nate denied any responsibility. We then showed him the chicken finger in the plastic bag, which he picked up and walked into the back room with it. When he returned he did not have it with him. WHEN NATE WAS ASKED SEVERAL TIMES TO RETURN THE CHICKEN FINGER HE REFUSED AND AGAIN DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY for the contamination that could have had serious consequences to anyone who may have consumed even a small piece of it. On Monday April 05, 2022, we called the Aloha and asked to speak to the owner Gary with no avail because the staff member that answered the phone abruptly hung up on us. This posting is to inform the patrons of the Aloha Restaurant of the health risk of eating at the Aloha Restaurant and the extremely poor customer service experience. Its apparent that the management and staff had no regard to customer service, customer safety and food...
Read moreI used to eat here a lot when I lived in the area 13 years. On a whim while up in the area to visit friends this weekend, we decided to get take-out for dinner. I didn't think anything of it because the food used to be great. When we got home and started eating, just about everything was extremely dry and had less flavor than those styrofoam packing peanuts. The pork fried rice was was extremely dark and faintly tasted of burnt oil and cardboard. You would think with how dark the rice is that you'd have some sort of saltiness from the soy sauce. Nope. The pork chow mein also had extremely little flavor and was like someone took overly boiled sausage crumble (no flavor), threw in some expired pickled bean sprouts, mixed it with expired canned chow mein sauce and threw it in the microwave. The vegetable lo-mein was also very dry per my friend. The only thing that somewhat saved the day was the sweet and sour sauce actually brought some moisture to the chicken fingers, which were the first time I've ever had dried out chicken fingers from a Chinese restaurant. Oh and the rolls were were edible. This is super disappointing as I remember when they were the go to place to get Chinese food, especially as the whole bill came to $60. I definitely will not...
