Heng Won — Restaurant in Manchester

We all have one of those days where we crave for some seriously bad Americanized Chinese food...my boyfriend has those days more than others. I usually pick out the places we eat at or order from but when he's craving Heng Won he's really craving Heng Won. His go-to is always the pork fried rice, crab meat rangoon, and boneless spareribs. I hate fried rice where the rice isn't soft and has turned brown from the soy sauce so I'm not a good judge of that particular dish...but he likes it. I do like the crab rangoons and boneless spareribs. Unfortunately the boneless spareribs don't come in two different sizes. An order of spareribs is super large. Some pieces the meat is a little tougher/dryer but some pieces are pretty good and tender.

I am definitely not above Americanized Chinese takeout. I usually opt for the beef lo mein and beef & broccoli. Sometimes I'll throw in a little General Tso's chicken here and there. The beef & broccoli here is pretty standard, nothing to complain about. The beef lo mein is where I have complaints. While the small order of lo mein is still pretty big, I just didn't care for it. The noodles were soft but they were pretty dry...lo mein noodles should be wet from the sauce. The beef wasn't tender like the beef & broccoli meat either. I would definitely pass on the lo mein when ordering...

I have been ordering from Heng won since I was a kid. I don't know that I'll ever order from here again. Online it says the store opens at 1130am on Saturday. I placed an order online at 1140am. Mind you, I only order Chinese food maybe once or twice a year. I decided I wanted some for lunch for my son and I. I arrived at the store to pick it up. The store was completely closed. No one in sight. A gentleman that runs the campaign office next door told me they usually show up around 1230pm. That alone tells me this is a regular basis thing since this man knows when they "usually show up". It makes me wonder how many people have put orders in at lunch hour on a Saturday.... I assume they are walking in, and fulfilling orders with leftovers. There is just no way anything fresh is being sent out if you ordered before 1230pm. Needless to say, they arrived and I requested a refund on which was given buy of course, it'll take 5 to 10 business days to see my money back on my card. Looks like I won't be ordering out again. Such poor business. It's not that hard to just change your opening hours, and make it so people can't order online if YOU AREN'T...

Very gross. Never ordered here before but it was in the area I was on my home in. Usually go to bamboo garden but.... all the fried food tasted like very old fry oil, I have worked in the restaurant industry for years and I know what that tastes like, definitely very old. Chicken broccoli and pork, basically everything in the sauce tasted like it was sitting out and just old. Flavor was not good at all. My concern is why haven't the health department been in? No way they have been or the place would have been shut down to clean everything and date everything. Wish no one out of business but we have laws to ensure customers don't get sick. I threw everything out! Never wrote a bad review because it's not my thing, but I have warned you all, the food is not safe. Like I said, been in the industry for many years and I know my stuff.
