This was the most standout meal I had during my one-week stay in Vermont. Every course was excellent. The maple carrot soup was an ingenious concept carried out flawlessly. The house dill dressing made my simple salad extraordinary. My entree was the grilled trout, and it was just beautiful - delicate, flavorful, plentiful, and far more satisfying than many unhealthy fried meals I've had. The whipped red potatoes were quite good and the green beans were unexpectedly tender, fresh, and delicious. Finally, and this would have gotten the place 5 stars on its own - the maple bread pudding was beyond beyond. The top was delicately crispy and the center was a buttery custard. It was served with plentiful whipped cream and ice cream which melted and surrounded each bite with the nectar of happiness. Under it all was the maple syrup flavor that embodies Vermont itself. Worthy of note is the "family" nature of this place: it's big, crowded, noisy, and there were lots of kids running around. Single diners are not permitted seats by the window. It might not be great for an intimate date, but if good food is what you're about, you need to give them a try. Edit: I originally meant to give them 5 stars overall, as the food more than qualifies. Fixed that.

Visited September 28th for the first time. I ordered onion rings as appetizer. I got FOUR onion rings on my plate and not really worth $1.50 per ring. I thought it was pretty miserly for an appetizer but just figured that was their regular portion and I’d skip that if I ever went back, of course then I saw the picture of their onion rings on their facebook page which was filled with onion rings. The burger was really good and the fries were perfectly portioned. The men’s bathroom is in disrepair with a stall door that won’t latch or stay closed and awkwardly set up so if you try to use the urinal everyone walking in gets full side view, they really need to install a privacy screen that blocks people from walking in from seeing the full side profile while using the urinal.

I went here for dinner one night not really knowing what to expect and thought maybe I’d have trouble being seated because it was like an hour before closing and it was packed. However, I was seated very promptly and had a very helpful and friendly server. The food was okay, and in my opinion isn’t going to knock anyone’s socks off. I had green beans and rice with my steak and neither were very flavorful at all, and the steak was a bit chewy though it was cooked correctly. I either got a bad cut or maybe it’s the quality of the meat they get - not sure. I also received plain white bread which was fine. The salad and beer were good. Overall, the place was decent and I’d definitely come back to see what else they have to offer if I’m in the area.

Absolutely *RUDE * young female host. On Wednesday September 27th we 4 arrived for dinner at 6 pm. 2 other people arrived right after us. Since we requested a booth the host already loud said I can seat you right away on a table because booth will take 15 to 20 minutes. We decided to wait but because of our decision she accommodated the couple that arrived after us at the first booth that became available . She said again very laud and justifying that OUR POLICY IS whoever step on the property fist must have the right to sit first. The couple look at our face without understanding what she meant by that statement and cordially offered that booth for us. She interfered loudly again saying YOU(the couple) CAME HERE FIRST, follow me ! We were completely shocked with her attitude. Absolutely unnecessary. She kept returning and offering a table instead and stating that booth will take 15 to 20 minutes. We insist on waiting. I observed her going behind of the counter where most of the workers Gather while preparing drinks and I saw her clearly making comments about us to her colleagues . As a restaurant owner I understand that her job as a host to distribute the tables to the servers evenly to keep the servers busy and being fair . After 35 minutes 2 booths were available at once and politely we request the table that was close by since my 2 guests were handicap and her answer was : YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE ONE NEAR THE BATHROOM . We didnt argue with her and took the booth. What a bad experience. That host was ABSOLUTELY UNQUALIFIED UNPROFESSIONAL AND OVER THE TOP RUNNING EVERYWHERE PRETENDING TO BE THE OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT SHOWING OFF SOME POWER. My guests ( local for 65 years ) know the owner who is a lovely person and they were embarrassed for recommending zoeys on that evening. It was not my first time at zoeys and I absolutely love everything about that place. I promised my guests I was going to post our experience here …so here it is. Trying to make justice for that horrible experience with that LOUD YOUNG WOMAN . SHE will definitely ruin...

We've been coming to Zoey's during our annual trek to Vermont since they opened. Our reviews have always been positive as the food and service were outstanding. We normally would go two to three times during our week-long stay. I would always get the seafood steam pot for my first visit and my wife the mac and cheese. Always a perfect and consistent delivery.

Tonight was a disappointment for the first time ever. My seafood pot was lacking seafood, no garlic toast which was always a given, the pasta was much less than usual and it was swimming in broth. The seafood I did receive was cooked perfectly so I need to point that out.

My wife's Mac and cheese which she always loved was bland. That never happened at Zoey’s. Everything was always seasoned and salt and pepper was not something you needed to add. Not this time. My wife commented "I feel like I need to add Parmesan or some more cheese!"

Couple that with the lack of air conditioning and we had enough. We were in and out in 45 minutes! We usually do a second round of drinks and dessert but tonight we couldn't wait to get out.

Now, every restaurant can have an off night so we will be back, we owe them that. I pray the next experience is what we've come to know Zoey's for which was quality!

I also need to point out that Rachael, our server, was awesome! She was all about making sure we had what we needed.

We want our old...

We walked in after a day of skiing at Magic Mountain. The staff were friendly with a decent atmosphere and a great beer selection. We just wanted some apps as we still had quite a bit of travel time and got the Calamari and Mussels. The Calamari was perfect, if anything we would ask for more banana peppers next time. The Mussells on the other hand were ill prepared and downright sandy. The broth was lackluster and they were mostly inedible with the lack of preparation (ie: sandy).

The first time the waitress, Shay, came around we only tried one each. Thinking it was an offshoot we told her that we were fine. When she finally came around the 2nd time we only had eaten 3 more realizing they were inedible. She said since we told her everything was fine the first time that it more or less is what it is. It wasn't and we told the hostess who came to take our payment as the waitress avoided us after we told her about the Mussells. We've both worked in the front of house of restaurants for about 15 years combined and couldn't believe how poorly handled this was. Even an apology and still charging for it would have been fine since it was our fault for ordering them. We hope others have a better experience and Avoid the Mussells. That or hop on the road and find...
