I am sad we have to drive away from Mancos and leave this restraunt with all this delicious food in the rear view mirror! We came out to visit Mesa Verde and stumbled on this hidden gem. Moondog definitely needs to be a destination point when coming to this region. We came for dinner. The steak was cooked to perfection, and if it wouldn't have been frowned upon, we would have licked the plate clean. The berry bbq sauce put it over the top. The stuffed squash, with all of its vibrant colors was a feast for my eyes before I even gobbled it up. Dessert was macarons and the moon bombe. The macarons had a perfect crunch on the outside and the right amount of softness on the inside. We enjoyed the dark chocolate heart ones. It felt almost evil to be devouring the chocolate moon bombe, since it was such a work of art by itself. Our server Madison, had the biggest smile and made us feel right at home and welcome. Maxine also was great with making sure our drinks stayed full. Every member of the staff we came in contact with, made us feel right at home. Im not even sure if I loved the food more or the whimsical murals covering the back wall. The cactus paintings had a very Wes Anderson feel to them and I wish I could put them in my house. I can not say enough good things about Moondog, we are so grateful we...

I Was so excited for the new bakery (now Moondog Bakery and cafe)to open back up; now not so much.I like to order take out sometimes for my valuable employees at my local Mancos business, been doing that for 9 years at the great ABC bakery; Anyway before I put in my first take out order I called and asked if could pay with a local business check; the employee checked with someone there and answered yes; I went to pick up order, had to wait in line (no problem)to pay (with check) for it even though it was already ready and on a shelf that I didn't notice as I walked in; was delicious, nice lunch ; About a week later I sent staff member with signed check to pick up our take out order and she was denied paying with a check; she paid cash and I paid her back; I called today to see if local business checks were honored since I got conflicting stories: lady on phone said she would talk to owners who happened to were right there and I said oh nice I'd like to talk with them asI haven't met them yet; she said I'll ask them: she quickly got back on phone and said no checks and that both owners refused to talk with me; as a 71 year old who has owned businesses for about fifty years I would never turn down a good repeat customer because they want to pay with good check; BTW the bank I use is about 75 yards from...

The first time we went in (spent $100 on a meal and pastries) the waitress was a little over-the-top with her friendly voice but overall we enjoyed it and decided we would come back. We called on the 4th of July to make sure they were open and they said they were open until 3:00, unfortunately, when we arrived at 12:32 i was met with an unhappy looking, long-haired guy who said that i missed the sign on the door and they closed at 12:30. The restaurant was full of people(but we saw a cute table available by the window) and it was the lunch hour…? We went across the street to eat and it was almost 2:00 when we walked back passed and Moondog was still open. We looked around at the shops for a bit and at 2:40 they were still open so we called again and said they were open until 3:00. Very strange experience. When the manager, Dustin, called me to explain he was full of excuses that weren’t true. Said they were slow and closing early. When i called him out on that he just got upset and asked what i was hoping to get out of the conversation. This place is NOT worth it. i just wanted a reasonable explanation and a reason to come back. We figured it was a racial thing and until we get a better explanation that’s what we’ll continue to believe. Who runs a business like that? They...

Wow! As a Mancos local, I am so pleased at our new Moondog Cafe and Bakery. The pastries are out of this world- the savory stuffed croissants are perfect for lunch, and the guava pastry is now my favorite. Had the best lamb burger (The Frenchman) for lunch, and for breakfast we had the Shakshuka and the Trout Benedict! Everything has been wonderful. They are new, and there is a lot of negative comments about service - but I’ve been multiple times now and everyone is great. Give them some grace while they find their rhythm - the workers are dedicated and kind. Absolutely go, have a delicious pastry to go or sit down for an amazing meal 💙

I was really looking forward to trying this place. The atmosphere and service were great. I had placed an order for takeout. Unfortunately my order was wrong. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette, add tomatoes & onion (receipt attached) what I received was a dry spinach egg patty with no cheese, very little ham, topped with onions and peppers. I was starving & paid $16+ for this breakfast so I reluctantly ate it. The toast was also not toasted. It was barely grilled (pictures below) My husbands order was correct & well made though. He ordered the Italian club with truffle fries.
