Megumi is not my regular sushi place, but I was in the mood for something new. What I found was some of the best sushi I have ever had, but the service was very poor.

The menu is very large. There were at least five double sided legal sized pages of rolls. If I remember correctly the rolls were listed in alphabetical order and there were no separate listings for regular vs. specialty rolls. This was a lot to take in, and picking what we wanted took some time. Our server checked with us once before we were ready, then disappeared. When she finally returned we placed our order.

The way the food was delivered was very disorganized. Even though we ordered an appetizer, it came out after all of our rolls. Drink refills were few and far between, and it was difficult to get our servers attention throughout the meal. At the end of the meal getting the check, and getting the server to run my card took at least 15 minutes. It left me highly frustrated. The saving grace was the food. The sushi rolls were among the best I ever had.

My dining companion and I ordered:

Blue Water Roll- jumbo lump crab meat and avocado. Topped with tuna, black caviar, eel sauce, white sauce and sesame seeds. $13.95

Playboy Roll - coconut shrimp, snow crab, and avocado. Topped with fresh salmon, tuna, eel sauce and sesame seeds. $11.95

Crunchy Roll - snow crab, asparagus and punchy tempura. $5.95

These rolls were amazing. I highly recommend the Playboy roll. In hindsight I wish I had ordered two of these because it was that good. The rolls here are larger than traditional sushi rolls. I would estimate that they were at least one foot long, and had approximately 12 individual pieces per roll.

I will probably return to Megumi because the food was so good. I just hope they improve their...

The servers were nice and very sweet, however the food was not appealing AT ALL. I was trying to decide between two ramen options in which the manager stated were made ā€œfreshā€. I asked if I could have a small sample of the two broths to help me decide. Absolutely stunned when the owner stated she could not do a sampling, as they were frozen and not fresh. She then returned to the table minutes later to try and say the broths were made in-house. I decided, against my best interest, to order the ā€˜Cajun ramen’, which touted many toppings including mussels. The toppings were incredibly sparse and very noticeably NOT fresh. The spicy broth I was told to be homemade tasted suspiciously similar to nongshim instant noodles. I ordered a few appetizers to sample, including the agedashi tofu. The fish flakes were so old, they didn’t even ā€˜dance’ with the heat of the oil. Even the skewers were lackluster. I love to leave rave reviews, however, I was so disappointed in the lack of value for the abhorrent prices of the food. I had notated the price of dishes while ordering and knew what I was getting into, but was absolutely appalled by the lack of quality for the price. I honestly felt like I had unknowingly stumbled into an episode of kitchen nightmares. Sadly, I will not be back and I pray no one gets sick from...

Finally ended up here. Very late review as I've been off reviewing and have alot to write up. I ended up here in July and have been twice since then.

Experience is about the same both times excellent service and food experience. I do feel that this spot is better than zen. It has a more authentic Japanese feel. The sushi menu is definitely larger and I feel the dishes are more traditional.

The sushi list here is VERY large with a huge book to flip through with raw, cooked and rice less option's. Plus it's always a nice thing to see sushi chefs at work when preparing your food.

The setting is very nice perfect for date night setup. Only thing I think that may be slightly off from 5 star is atmospheric music. Maybe I just don't notice it.

Ive tried plenty of things here from Tonkotsu ramen and the Cajun styled ramen. To several sushi rolls and appetizers I don't think a single food item Ive had so far as not been anything less that delicious. ALSO presentation of said food is always on point as well. I haven't really gotten much of the desert options yet tho but they will come.

Staff is super friendly and courteous unlike at alot of other sushi/ hibachi styled places. You can even ask for recommendations.

Highly recommend venturing in for the experience, even if it's just to grab...

Touch of class, but perfect for family and friends. The steamed hand towels at arrival is an often overlooked hospitality overture, but such a welcome after a day of running around. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable and helpful in finding alternatives if you have food allergies. The sashimi portions are just right, not so huge the flavor is bypassed and not so little it hurts your feelings. A right balance of cut to appreciate your choice. The sashimi appetizer is well presented and the specialty rolls are presented on a generous tray to prevent being damaged as you select your morsel of choice. Why aren't you there yet?

Loved the atmosphere. Loved the tempura lunch. Love the seaweed salads included in lunch. Made me happy. Crunchy roll fell apart when trying to pick up. At first the waiter tried to say it was the way I picked it up with my chop sticks, but it fell apart the other way, too! He said, "Well, we try to fill them up really full!" Doesn't matter. Some of the best I have ever had!
