Cute, but unless you need a boozy coffee or the location is convenient, this place seems like a skip. I went for coffee and breakfast, expecting it to be a regular morning cafe. Reviews are so positive I figured it had great food and brew. But as far as food, the breakfast menu is basically nonexistent and largely cold items/sweets: a couple of options for pastries they buy and resell, a few smoothie bowls and peanut butter or avocado toast. One sandwich was on the specials menu. That was it.
I ordered the sandwich and a cafe au lait. The coffee was disappointing; very weak, thin, had no body or flavor. I barely drank half of it. The sandwich was okay, but also pretty bland. The only real highlight was the super spicy sauce it was served with. I also had kids with me and the place is SILENT. Like, intimidatingly so, especially for a cafe at breakfast time. The staff was very nice but I still felt like we were an inconvenience just because we were interrupting an overwhelming quietness. Seating options are pretty limited indoors and it was 38 degrees and raining, so we couldn't sit outside. It's a cute place that seems like a good spot to nurse a hangover in silence with a spiked coffee, but otherwise not somewhere I plan to visit again. Gave 4 stars because it was a 3 star experience for me but for others it...
Read moreTandem is easily one of my favorite spots in town. The moment you walk in, thereâs an instant sense of warmth and welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with just the right mix of charm and creativity. Whether youâre catching up with friends, getting some work done, or just looking for a quiet moment with a great cup of coffee, Tandem makes it easy to feel at home.
The coffee is consistently excellent. Every drink Iâve had has been smooth, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can tell they take their craft seriously without making it feel pretentious. My personal favorite is the iced caramel mocha latte!
The food is just as impressive for a coffee shop! The charcuterie board is thoughtfully put together with a great mix of flavors and textures that make it ideal for sharing. And the chicken salad? Absolutely delicious, easily the best Iâve had anywhere. (Maybe even better than my mom's...)
What really sets Tandem apart, though, is the people. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Itâs the kind of place where everyone can feel comfortable being themselves, and that kind of environment is hard to find Mandeville.
Whether you're a regular or stopping in for the first time, Tandem is always...
Read moreTandem sits on a quiet street in Mandeville, but thereâs nothing quiet about the way it makes you feel. Itâs a place of craftâof good coffee, good liquor, and good people. The light pours in soft in the morning. The drinks pour hard at night. And through it all, the welcome is the same.
You can come in alone and leave feeling known. You can bring your friends, your kids, your partner, your full self. Nobody looks twice. Nobody has to. The place is built for everyone. And the owner wouldnât have it any other way.
They make coffee the right wayârich, strong, without fuss. Cold brew that bites. Matcha that sings. Bowls and toasts for the early crowd. Then the day turns, and the cocktails come. House-made syrups, deep flavors. Cherry almond. Coconut lime. The kind of drinks that you remember.
Thereâs a big table in the back for talking. A yard out back for gathering. A happy hour that makes you feel lucky. And a staff that means it when they say, âWeâre glad youâre here.â Tandem isnât just a bar or a cafĂ©. Itâs a place to breathe. A place to belong. If you need a drink, theyâll pour it. If you need kindness, theyâve got that too.
You wonât forget it. Youâll come back. Youâll bring...
