Fri May 21st for the first time ever I took my sister here to have a bite. Beautiful view of the ocean and you can sit as long as you want with tables and chairs provided. Had an order of fries which were super tasty seasoned perfectly and a great cuppuccino. I even told the employee how great the food was. Problem is I dropped my lid covering the cuppuccino and needed another lid because I didn't want to spill it in my car. The employees stood in the back maybe they were on a break Im not sure. After a few minutes I asked for help. No response. I felt like I was imposing on their time. So I sat back down and after a bit went back to the window. Finally the female employee came to the window and told me(before I could say what I needed)"We dont do that here" I tried to explain and she cut me off and repeated in a stern voice "No refills" Well alright, but I didn't want a refill and I never asked for one and I only wanted a lid. Would have been nicer if she would have asked what I wanted and let me speak, I'm not a rude person and I ask please and say thank you. I did finally receive the lid but why all the drama... Please teach the employees to ask what the patrons want and not assume. I realize that they probably encounter all sorts of customers that are demanding but...
Read moreI have been coming to El Porto Ever since I moved down from Seattle. I used to live 2 blocks from this place. I come almost daily now, as I bring my long time friend here to walk along the flat parts of The Strand, as part her effort to recover from two strokes. We have been doing this for over 8 years now.
There is a strip of concrete near this establishment that was built to allow disabled persons access to the sand. On many occasions, I have brought my friend to this place and as she sits in her wheelchair soaking up the sun and salt air, I usually grab a smoothie from this restaurant along with on of their chairs so that we can sit together and enjoy our snack. I have done this on several occasions without incident, always returning the chair as any normal person would do.
Today however, I was yelled at by the restaurant employee that under no circumstances could I use their chair for this propose. Unbelievable, but whatever. I will bring my own chair in the future and never, ever will spend another $.01 at this place.
If you have a loved one that is physically disabled, please boycott this establishment over this ridiculous and...
Read moreHorrible customer service! My husband and I get food from here every time we come to this beach. The french fries are barely edible, but convenient since it’s right on the beach. Today my husband grabbed a plastic fork and a napkin as we forgot one from home. An employee chased us down the beach and told us we needed to pay for the one plastic fork! I told him we are customers and I have purchased food here recently, but he didn’t care. He insisted we pay for the plastic fork! Of course, I understand if everyone takes utensils, that’s a problem. But if you’re a past customer taking ONE plastic fork, it’s absolutely ridiculous that someone would chase us down the beach insisting we pay for it! My husband told him that he had already touched the fork, but the employee didn’t care and proceeded to put the dirty fork back for other customers to use! I don’t support businesses like this, with zero sense of community, and subpar food. Skip this place next time you’re...
