La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Manhattan

They didn't shred their chicken for the chimichanga or the quesadilla so we were left cooking on dry chunks of chicken that hadn't soaked up the seasoning. They were WAY over priced for the quality (and quantity) of food. Their rice and beans were bland and dry, and their sauces were bland and lacking in spice.

On the up side, the service was good enough, and the guacamole and cheese dip were good. The specialty "waters" (agua de horchata, etc.) were good, and the time to be seated was fine.

I understand that they are located in a place where they are the "only" Mexican restaurant in Manhattan so they think they offer a unique cuisine, but honestly they need to step up their cooking game if they're going to charge astronomical prices, and try to be more authentic with seasonings and spices.

Please note that we traveled in from a place where there are several competing Mexican (and other Latino) restaurants in every town, and both my daughter and I cook Mexican and other Latin American dishes on aregular basis, as we are both married to men from Latin...

Great food at a very reasonable price. I've went in there countless times STARVING, and was unable to finish my food because the portions are so large. If you and one other person can finish their "fajitas for two" plate, I want to see video because I don't believe it. They also have awesome margaritas, I've never found anywhere where you get as much margarita for your money. A jumbo size (44oz) is only $10.50, and is more than enough to get even the most seasoned margarita veteran at least a heavy buzz. (I know it sounds like a fake review considering I know the exact price and size, but trust me I've been here a time or two haha) You really can't beat it, especially on Mondays when they're half priced. The wait staff has always been super friendly, and me and my friends have gone enough that they recognize us. This was our second experience at La Fiesta and both times we were sat next to the kitchen. This visit we observed a server continually walking in to the kitchen to cough repeatedly and coughing as he walked by our table. We tried to ignore it at first as he was not our waiter, but when we saw him cough as he was picking up two plates and then took them to a table if women, We immediately got up and paid for our drinks and left. As we were paying , we let the cashier know why we were leaving and he just shrugged it off as no big deal. I also made the owner and hostess aware of the problem. To which she replied "I'm so sorry, we'll take care of it" I can guarantee they all knew he was sick as they had been there with him all day. Why would they allow him to continue his shift, serving tables while he was coughing so severely? And the kitchen staff, who continued to witness him hide in the kitchen to cough didn't question it or bring it up to management? Disgusting. We will not...
