The Outsider — Restaurant in Manistee

Great burgers. Great vibes. Had a wonderful meal at the Outsider with some friends. I ordered the outsider burger and we all shared a large order of fries and two salads.

The burger was honestly one of the best I've had in a long time. It's the kind of burger you think about and crave again long after eating it. Perfectly sized, well constructed so everything stays in place (i hate it when burgers are messy), and excellently cooked and dressed. The meat had the nice flavorful crisp that you want in a smash burger, the toppings were fresh and the sauce was very tasty without dominating the flavor. I was also very surprised by the quality of the salad. I had the mediterranean, and it was delicious. I'm not sure what kind of feta was in it, but it was creamy and mild, which was balanced out with crispy onion and the acidic tang of olives and pepperoncini.

We also had local beers from the well-stocked bar and played pinball in their very impressive pinball room (lot's of rare titles). Overall it was an outstanding experience and will definitely be back the next time I'm...

The food was great when they first opened...but I think they changed the chicken and fries, and I wasn't a big fan of either on my 4th visit. The fries have that sweet seasoning on them that I just don't particularly like. Our third visit we ordered and waited over 30 minutes for our food before they came to inform us that they were out of chicken strips...and the rest of our order was wrong. We ended up getting a full refund and had to go somewhere else after waiting 45 minutes there. I loved the food the previous 2 visits, so I decided to try it a 4th time. The burger patty is extremely thin, I didn't even taste it, it's all bun. It was also topped incorrectly this time as well. Very limited burger toppings - no pickles? Bacon? Onions? The onion rings were decent. Everything was very over-priced, more expensive than other nearby sit down burger restaurants. The staff is always super nice and friendly though! Liz and Austin are phenomenal. My family has been to The Outsider on multiple occasions over the past year and each one has been a good experience. We even hosted a 3 year olds birthday party there over a year ago and it was amazing! Liz is exceptional, she has great customer service and is very attentive. Austin has made sure to check up on us during our meal even though it’s not a typical practice with the atmosphere they have provided. I’ve also loved seeing the changes in the outdoor space. The giant outdoor games including corn hole plus the fire pits are such a cool additions. We’ve only had one or two food errors but they’ve always been promptly corrected. Every meal we’ve gotten has been fresh, hot and made well. My only critique is that I would love to see the family pack deals brought back during the busy season. We will absolutely...
