Zanz Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Mankato

I love Zantigos in the cities!! When I moved to Mankato I heard mixed reviews on this lackluster place that you just have to try once if you live in Mankato... "Once" was the highlight of that previous sentence. I prepared myself to get food poisoning, pulled my self up by the bootstraps and went inside. Right off the bat I was welcomed to this establishment with a lack of lighting and dusty fake plants, I mustered up all the courage in my being and stepped up to the counter. We told the women that we had never been there before and she very unprofessionaly told use she didn't know what to tell us to get and yelled for another girl to come up from the back and explain the menu to us. She really was pretty good at breaking the menu down and what she liked on it. We order a bean and cheese burrito and cheese roll up... both to expensive for what they were, compared to other texmex places in the area (Taco Bell and Taco Johns) but I'm really not worried about that! Just sayin... The food came out pretty quick and went sat down to eat. The cheese roll up was okay actually but looked like it had been run over by cars on Maddison avenue for an hour before it was served, the tortilla was clearly 2 weeks old by the way it was all cracked and flaking but the taste was okay. One good thing here is the hot sauce packets, they are actually pretty damn tasty. Then I went to eat my bean burrito, it was a fist sized, poor excuse of a burrito. It was a disgusting blob of year old luke warm mushed beans that were so cold it didn't even melt the barley visible sprinkle of processed cheese if that tells you anything. All the hot sauce in the world could not make this thing edible. Adding insult to injury I went up to the counter to get a cup of water as I was choking on this monstrosity and was told that sorry our owners make people pay for water because we don't have tap water only soda water. I truley was lost for words and asked if she was serious? She apologized and said that was the owners policy and couldn't really do anything about it as the girl in the back yelled I really don't know why they do that every other restaurant in America gives people free water. I walked back to my table cleaned up the disgusting food that was left and threw it away and walked out. My homie and I sat in the car for a moment after and laughed about how absolutely terrible that experience was and that we will never be back. It is disappointing that this place is called zanz because it is purely disrespectful to any Zantigo that is still open. Do not eat here! It is time for the health inspector to close...

Taco bell leans into what they are trx Mex candy. They have wacky sauces, fun unique items like the Doritos locos taco and ever rotating speciality items. Their esstblishment was very clean, the service was spot on and the taste was as expected ( I happen to love the checked quesadilla and it was made to oefextuon).

Zanz I'm the other hand missed.the mark. My table had a film on it from the fact that it seems like it read wiped down with a dirty rag, my food was slow to come out (though I will admit it was busy) bit half my order was cold, and when I asked for a wster cup I was told there was only soda water and that I likely didn't want that. I like soda water so asked for a cup but it seems like the spouts on the machine hadn't been cleaned well as they tasted white funk. It wasn't my favorite but I still thought the food was decent and gave you a star for that, and despite the water thing service was decent. However upon further reflection and my above system that is actually only 2 stars, and it's only fair I keep the same standard for everyone. 1 for service 1/2 for taste since some menu items were decent. 1/2 for quality since half my food was hot and the veg seemed fresh.

In short, yeah taco bell beats you guys our. It's okay though, like you said you've been around. For thirty years so my record isn't going to sway the regulars, ad it shouldn't. But for new people looking for some grub, your tacos are just not good and your site needs a deep cleaning.

Original review: Lackluster tex mex. Low quality beef and severe lack of cumin in everything. Just okay in every regard. I wasn't a huge fan of the chilito but it is unique. In my opinion just better fast food style.tex Mex options...

Unfortunately my wife and I had a really bad experience here. In fact the worst food experience we have ever had. We had heard this place has been there forever and you have to try it. So we did. I had ordered some burrito meal that came with rice and beans and such, i could taste plastic. The rice was an ice cream scoop of res mush. I had also ordered a cheese chillito but I think they got the order wrong because inside my tortilla was what seemed to be a green celery and brown gravy goo with a few chunks of ground beef. My wife had gotten a taco but the beef was mushy with a crusty layer on too as if it has been sitting in a tray for too long. Now, the pictures i have seen on this review board of the cheese chillito look actually pretty good! We spent $20 and We had to throw away all but a few bites. I wish the manager or owner was there so I could have talked to him/her and asked what was up. The 2 employees that were working was a younger blonde girl and a younger black girl who we could hear screaming at eachother in the back and swearing. I wish I could write a better review but I cant! In fact this is the only review of a restaurant I have ever written! We vowed to never spend money there again. It was so bad that I almost want to give it a try and see if I was actually asleep having a nightmare. Sorry guys, clean your shop, get fresh food, put some effort and care into the taste and hire better employees. Then we would LOVE to support a Mankato staple like you!
