The Olive Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Mantua Township

First off, this restaurant is really overpriced. They charge for every little thing! $6 charge to share a plate of food? $4 to request to change the sauce in a $23 chicken dish? We aren’t penny pinchers, but the service was really lack luster compared to the asking price of the food. The food was okay at best, the pasta was really dry and we needed to ask for extra sauce. For 3 people, our bill came out to $94, not including tip. In addition, after spending all that money, we requested a paper bag to take home our boxed food. The waitress told us she can’t give us a paper bag because its for “takeout only”. We just spend over a hundred at your restaurant and we can’t even get a paper bag? I know with the new NJ laws around plastic there are rules, but a paper one? To carry extra food out of a restaurant? Thats kind of ridiculous. We looked really odd carrying 4 boxes of food out with no bag, not to mention it was really not convenient to do so.

Finally, we requested to sit outside because we wanted to bring our puppy. We’ve sat outdoors at hundreds of restaurants that allow dogs outside on the patio. Over the phone the lady said we couldn’t because the dog would need to go through the restaurant because there was no gate at the patio to let our puppy in. Except, we got to the restaurant, and there IS a back gate to get out of. I just didn’t understand what the problem was. There is no law that says dogs cannot...

So I used DoorDash for the first time today and ordered from the Olive for the first time as well, and did not receive my full order that I paid for. I contacted the restaurant and the owner lied to me and said he has a tablet and does not see the full order like I can see it, he told me to call DoorDash because it’s how they have it written up. I explained to him that I’m going off his menu on there and I’m looking at my receipt and it’s on there and I was charged. The owner was very rude and when I informed him I would never eat there again and I would give a bad review he stated DO What You Want. I called DoorDash and they pulled my order up and informed me the whole order was there in detail and that the Restaurant sees it exactly how they see it and exactly how I see it, The restaurant clearly made a mistake and forgot to fill my Whole order and is blaming it on DoorDash instead of offering to allow me to come pick it up, Man up and apologize that made a mistake, but nope blamed it on DoorDash and made me get a refund from DoorDash. this restaurant has horrible customer service. Will never order...

I placed an order for one of their signature meal of Cheese Ravioli which the description of the meal states Oversized pasta pillows filled with ricotta cheese, topped with marinara sauce and baked with mozzarella cheese. This meal was $15.99. Now if the meal had been as described it certainly would have been worth the price, but sadly it was not. The ravioli's were oversized but reading the description of their meal, I expected the ravioli's to be filled with ricotta cheese instead they were flatter than pancakes with a thin layer of ricotta cheese that reminded me of butter on toast, and then to add insult to injury, they were so rubbery, tasting like they were frozen, refrozen and then over cooked. The second meal with this order was Penne alla Vodka for $15.50 which was described as was Pencil point pasta tossed with sundried tomatoes in a cream blush sauce with garlic basil and a touch of vodka. Now reading the above description you would think extremely flavorful, right?!? No this was so bland it was tasteless. Based on the above I would not recommend this restaurant to ants...
