This just really stuck with me all day, and so I just wanted to share my experience!! Sorry in advance for the long post š¬ So I get my hair done at Salon BLK in Sewell (shout out to my girl Katie, she is the best!!!) and on their IG they ran a contest to win a free massage at their new Spa to help promote it and I had won (I hardly win anything so I was excited š). So I book the massage, and they are having 40% off facials right now, so you know I had to book that too lol. I went there and there was confusion with the schedule so the masseuse wasnāt there yet (totally understandable, Iāve been there and done that š). But instead of having me wait until she got there, they were so apologetic and offered me a free wash and blowout while I wait!! It wouldnāt have persuaded my business either way if I did have to wait because again things happen, but I tell you guys this because i just felt like it spoke volumes about how they care for their clients. The girl didnt rush either, she took her time and you could tell she genuinely cared.
Now when I tell you between the blow out, the massage, and the facial, I literally felt like a new woman leaving there š The facial and massage were both out of this world, both girls did such a good job. The spa itself was gorgeous and literally felt so warm, welcoming, and homey, and the room I was in was so pretty. It had a built in fire place and soft colored clouds on the cielings. Whoever designed it needs to come do my house next lol. Each room had a different design, it was pretty cool!
But seriously, I love going there for my hair because I feel like they take a genuine interest and after becoming a mom my hair has absolutely changed as it has become more brittle and falls out so easily. I love going to Katie, but I have also had some of the other staff members and they are all amazing and so down to earth!! But after my experience now with the spa I will say I donāt think I will be able to go anywhere else for those services either.
I just had to share my experience because I definitely feel like a lot of places can come off as only in it for the money and dont always care about the changes we go through, and it can be hard especially after trying to piece yourself back together after having a baby. So I just wanted to share this experience with you because as I said I just felt like it was so genuine. I wish I would have taken a pic of the room just to show you guys but I was so out of it after I felt like I was in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm sad that I'm not able to leave a higher review considering my first experience at this salon was great. The stylist was very kind and the salon is gorgeous, but unfortunately I left with mild chemical burns and tons of damage and breakage.
I first went to the salon for a blonde peek-a-boo (which I LOVED) and went in again to get a touch up and hopefully lift the blonde from around a level 8 to a level 10. The stylist said that we were in a good place to make that happen, but I understand that not all hair can lift to that level. The stylist put bleach on my roots first, let that sit for 30 minutes (she originally said 15 minutes), then put bleach on the rest of the hair and let that sit for an additional hour or so. I had bleach on my scalp for well over an hour. It burned and itched but I thought that was normal.
The stylist toned it a few times because the roots lifted more than the rest of my hair and I left with a more cool, ashy blonde than I had hoped. I was slightly bummed about the color, but what really upset me was the damage to my scalp and hair. My scalp was extremely red and irritated with some bumps. That section of hair looks shorted and thinner than when I came in. I can see tons of breakage, so now you can barely see the peek-a-boo because there's not as much hair. I needed to take a Tylenol, Benadryl and ice my scalp to get some relief in order to sleep.
I'm waking up the next day and it still burns and feels sore, kinda like a bruise. Again, I know bleaching your hair will cause damage and there's no way around that. But I don't understand why the bleach was left on my scalp for over an hour to the point where my scalp is red and in pain. That hair was already blonde and my natural hair is light brown and kinda thin, so I don't think it could handle the bleach for that amount of time. It felt like she had forgotten about me.
This was my first time going to a salon in 7+ years. I've been growing out my hair from a buzz cut for 5 years and I'm kinda devastated that all those years of taking care of my hair is down the drain. I don't think I'll have the confidence to go into a salon again for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am on the search for a local go-to salon. Based on the reviews, I was excited to give this one a shot. I was able to get in for an appointment relatively quickly.
When I arrived, I was seated right away to wait for the stylist. The manager/stylist who did my hair walked by me a few times without greeting me at first. Finally, she pulled up a seat next to me, introduced herself and did the consultation while seated (I found this to be odd, mainly because she was seated the ENTIRE time she was did my hair) I thought to myself, never seen this before.
As a new client, I asked if there were any new client specials. She responded (with a cocky attitude) that other stylists offered new client specials but she did not because she was the āmanagerā. I brushed this off because it wasnāt a big deal to me, however I just felt uncomfortable and unwelcome from the vibes she was giving off and the moment I walked in.
Once my hair was colored and washed, I was told to go have a seat back at her station and when I went there, it was a mess with hair all over and the seat was filthy so I stood there wondering how oblivious these girls were (not surprised because look how their manager was treating a new customer)
At this point Iām ready to be OUT and as sheās cutting and drying my hair, would you believe she asked me if it was my first time at the salon?!?! I was shocked, like we just had this conversation not once but twice!!!
I was going from a lighter balayage to a single process dark brown and it cost over $200 without the tip!!
So sad because this salon has so much potential but has such poor management. I do...
