This place is NOT Latinos friendly. Yesterday Thursday July 17th around 11:20am my mom and I stopped here to get coffee & tarts. I was hyping up this places so much & was telling my friends & my mom how good the coffee was which is true. So that morning after work I told my mom that we should stop here & get my favorite coffee we went in & there was this girl that I saw before she was making coffee for other 2 customers (white people) she was smiling, laughing, happy & talking to them super friendly. There was another guy also white waiting for coffee she made that coffee for him & handed his coffee & smiling at him said “Im so sorry for the wait, & thank you for waiting have a great day” As soon as my mom & I had to order her Whole mood changed she didn’t said hi or nothing just straight to “can I help you” I asked her for 2 Samoa Lattes which is from the past specialty menu (they have a new one now) & she said “ I can’t, we actually not making them is off the menu” that’s weird I had that coffee made for me twice after the new menu come out , the first time it was her who made it BUT the owner was there so she said “yes we can make it” & the next time was another girl who made it without any issue. When she said no I turned around to my mom & asked her in Spanish if she wanted something else & as soon as I asked her in Spanish this girl turn around irritated & rolled her eyes & start clean something else & got something else & she clearly was unhappy taking our order & making our coffees. We got 2 coffees and 2 tart it was around $24. The attitude & discrimination was free. After us there was 2 young white girls & as soon as we order she took their order & she was super nice to them & she said “hiii how can I help you”. I have come to this place many times & always was posting about this place on my instagram & told my friend about this coffee shop, my mom was so disappointed & so upset about the way she treated us. I was a paying customer I was not asking for free coffee or nothing. I am a human being it doesn’t matter my skin color or my first language, all humans should be treated with respect. Never coming back bc of her, the owner always was nice. But she’s gonna ruin this place....
Read moreWhen we moved to Maple Shade in the end of 2023, I was so sad to be leaving my small town of Merchantville where we had The Station and Hallowed Grounds coffee. I was able to walk to my lattes and that was such a big deal to me. I wanted nothing more than to have a coffee shop here, in my new cute little town to enjoy (and spend way too much money). Well, Grounded Coffee granted my wishes and let me tell you - it is BETTER than The Station and is right up there with Hallowed Grounds. I love every drink I have ever had from the "Lavender Haze" to the "Maple Shader" and my personal spring time favorite, "Blueberry cobbler". The pastries are fresh and delicious. The cinnamon roll is so flaky and tasty I crave it regularly. The review before mine stating that the place is "not friendly" or inviting is ridiculous! The vibe is amazing here. Our daughter is almost 3 and she is a huge fan of the shop. She makes herself comfy on the couch or one of the chairs up front. Everyone greets her. Everyone speaks to her, even when they are busy making drinks or prepping food. Oh and the owner is fantastic. He always says hello. He knows us by name. Any review that states otherwise is just wild to me because we have never ever had anything less than a great experience. He even CHASED us down the street because we forgot my daughter's croissant! If y'all want cheap and boring generic lattes or matcha...go to Wawa or Dunkin. Love this place. Coffee shop of my...
Read more1 star because I am beyond thrilled that Maple Shade has a local coffee shop, but the vibes here consistently underwhelming. You are almost never greeted upon walking in and interactions with the staff can be awkward, often with a total lack of eye contact and the customer needing to lead the entire conversation/ordering process. There are no prices, sizes, or much detail on the menu, which leaves the shock factor at how expensive the coffee is for checkout. The shop is small and cute, so there aren't too many places to sit and the owner is pretty much always there taking up some seating with his laptop or other items (his shop, his rules, but often feels like a general lack of awareness of the space or care for customer comfort). Drinks can take a bit of time, but while you wait you may hear some commercials being played in between songs coming from a portable speaker placed on a shelf for ambiance. I'd love to see some improvements and be able to update this review to 5 stars, but so far coming here leaves me feeling anything...
