One of a very, very few both good and authentic, family owned Chinese restaurants in the north Tucson area.
Veggies were crisp and fresh in everything served. Lots of other excellent ingredients too. I wonder how they can do it, as the menu is pretty large. We were a party of 16 which was a challenge I'll bet, but they handled us well. All enjoyed their dinner and the service and special needs were addressed smoothly. I had Ginger Chicken, and it was very good.
This was our first visit after hearing good things from many others. It won't be the last for sure.
A funny aside, there was a small, inconspicuous reservation marker on our table that that our name in both the western alphabet and in Chinese. It soon became clear that owners and staff were Chinese speakers who used motions and specialized in the shortest possible sentences. Not at all like the customary over-formality in American style restaurants. You know, pleases and thank yous starting and ending every sentence. Maybe a "perfect" or 2 thrown in.
Not Chinatown exactly in SFO, but like I said above, authentic and fun too.
PS, I don't get why Bistro is included in the restaurant name. Must have...
Read moreLiars, liars ,liars! Will never come back, they advertise one thing on the website and change it when you go to pick up. The website DOES NOT mention a per person price for family dinners!! You are responsible for the menu and wording on your website. I point this out to them and they deny what it says as I'm showing them their own website! Terrible ownership. I own a restaurant and would honor my mistakes, but this place won't. They don't deserve business when they act this way.
Reply to the nasty owners: Of course you don't answer the issue of your website. I never asked for free food (I never took food so how can it be free), I pointed out a glaring problem with your website and you attack the customer. This is why you don't deserve business, you don't bother to see what the real problem was. As a business owner I would never treat my customers this way, I would talk to them. You fail at all aspects of customer service, especially how to respond online. Look at your in-store menu compared to online, it's not the same. It's your duty to fix it,...
Read moreI got food to go and it was right after the lunch hour specials. We ordered Sweet/Sour Chicken, Pork Fried Rice and Crab Puffs. The Fortune Cookies were the best part. The food overall was not good. The flavor of the Crab Puffs was good but the won ton was very greasy. The Sweet/Sour Chicken was really bad. I’m not sure the chicken was completely cooked and the tempura batter was doughy in places. The Sweet/Sour sauce had almost no flavor and was neither Sweet nor Sour. The Fried Rice was neither good nor bad but….My portion had quite a bit of pork in it and a lot of it was either fat or gristle. The rice was mushy and overall just didn’t have a lot of good flavor. My wife said no repeats.. ever! I am super disappointed as my neighbor said that it was her favorite Chinese restaurant. I would really like to give her my bill for $40 but I do value our friendship. Unfortunately, I can not recommend nor would I ever willingly return...
