We came here while staying on Duck Key, the initial observation was that it was slow moving. One person was only on food and another was taking orders and making drinks. The line was wrapped all inside. We ordered three beverages and six breakfast items. The Cortadito was very good, the iced coffee seemed like they added ice into the coffee while hot and was very watered down, other beverages were fine. It would be helpful to move condiment/sugar station near the exit door as well as a larger wastebasket. It’s inconvenient to cut through everyone standing in line to try and get these items then throw garbage away.
If it were my shop, I would have someone on POS taking orders, writing drink names on cups/sleeves and throwing food into warmer. One person should be dedicated to the machine and iced drinks to expedite service. They also need to make a note on food items as nothing was labeled and we had one individual with a nut allergy that I had to cut open each beignet to check what it was. Overall this place could be really great, the lady working the machine was very nice and my cortadito was delicious but a few changes could greatly approve efficiency. I would also brew the coffee for iced let it sit then just chill overnight in the fridge it should be stronger but next time we may just do an iced americano to remedy this....
Read moreSo glad to come down to Duck Key (Hawks Cay) to discover this awesome coffee and breakfast joint. We've never really been happy about getting coffee from the resort and Marathon is a drive for some coffee. The barista and I engaged with some great chats about chorizo empanadas, which they unfortunately no longer make☹️ because they only import chorizo from Spain and felt like they couldn't bring value and quality - which made me realize how much I really really wanted to try it then. We also talked about how water (filtered or unfiltered) around the globe affects the taste of coffee and bread, etc. I often don't get to meet or talk to people who have so much passion for food, people, and experiences. The prices were no different than I expect to pay at any metropolitan or city establishment. Was bummed to find out the beignets are fried off-site and delivered every morning but not gonna keep me from trying them sometime this week. Great place to sit and visit with family, friends, or by yourself inside or outside. I believe everyone behind the counter is family and there's genuine connection here. Always a customer here every time we come into town, especially as long as all my future experiences are the same as this...
Read moreThis place was a serious disappointment. I asked for a croissant breakfast sandwich with egg white and was told that was not possible. I asked for the sandwich without any egg, just meat and cheese. I was told that was also not possible but I could remove the egg myself. That sounded gross, like it was going to be a microwaved pre-made sandwich in a plastic wrapper. Instead I opted for the beautiful chocolate croissant pastry in the display. I took one bite and felt like I was in two movie sceens at once. A Griswold Christmas where the turkey deflated when cut into and the Wizard of Oz when it's discovered the Wizard was a fake. I was duped and spent far too much for a completely inedible pastry. The outside was crispy, dry, burned. The inside was mushy and dough and entire raw and actually cold to the touch. It was disgusting. It had no flavor, not sweet, not chocolate, just raw and overcooked dough, at the same time! The espresso was okay, but very overpriced for the quantity. The same happened with the cinnamon bun we ordered so it was not a fluke. Crunchy and overcooked outside but cold and raw dough inside and...
