I am amending my review to add a response to the owner. My review is unchanged outside of this amendment as I can not directly reply: My response aimed to address the core issues of quality and service, not merely the establishment's identity. The use of coffee pods, despite the presence of a high-end espresso machine, was criticized for compromising quality in favor of consistency. A refund, while appreciated, does not address the underlying dissatisfaction but points to areas needing improvement. Understanding the focus is on bagels doesn't excuse subpar coffee quality, as excellence should be pursued across all offerings. The suggestion that my reviews follow a pattern dismisses legitimate concerns, a notion contradicted by similar feedback from other customers, indicating a broader issue with the establishment. The perceived passive-aggressiveness in the response sidesteps the critical feedback provided, which was intended to prompt improvement, not defensiveness. My critique was constructive, aiming to highlight areas for betterment to enhance the experience for all. Despite the response, I hope for a productive dialogue that fosters growth and upholds standards of quality and service. ______________________________________________________________ Upon venturing into this café, which I stumbled upon via Google Maps in my quest for a delightful coffee experience, my expectations were met with disappointment. The establishment, although equipped with an espresso machine whose value surpasses $7,000, surprisingly opts for coffee pods to craft its lattes and espressos. This choice struck me as a paradox, given the machine's potential to produce premium beverages. The café was evidently short-staffed on my visit. Nevertheless, the two employees present demonstrated commendable effort and professionalism in managing the situation. Despite their diligence, the wait time for receiving a relatively straightforward order — consisting of two bagels, a breakfast sandwich, and a latte — was excessively long, extending beyond 20 minutes. The latte, in particular, was profoundly disappointing; its quality was so inferior that I felt compelled to return it, suggesting a fundamental misunderstanding of proper latte preparation within the establishment. For those contemplating a coffee-based drink here, I would reluctantly advise limiting your choice to a standard coffee, bypassing the specialty beverages entirely. The breakfast offerings further amplified my disenchantment. The sandwich bore the hallmarks of being pre-assembled and lacked the freshness one would anticipate from a café of this nature. Additionally, there's a lingering question about whether the bagels are freshly made on-site or sourced from elsewhere, casting further doubt on the authenticity and quality of their fare. Given these experiences, I am left with little desire to return. While the two employees did their utmost to navigate through the challenges, the protracted wait for a simple breakfast order and the overall mediocrity of the food have cemented my dissatisfaction. This visit, regrettably, fell short of the promising café experience I had envisioned, leaving a lasting impression of disappointment.

Was an ok bagel. I got a sausage egg and cheese bagel and my wife got the everything toasted bagel with spread. The toasted everything bagel was ok and the spread tasted good. The sandwich was a mistake. It tasted like a McDonald's breakfast sandwich and looked like it too. The bagel was fine but the egg sausage and cheese were pretty bland and not worth it. We think the bagel with spread is the way to go. Service was ok because it seemed like only one person was running the place. Taking orders and making the food so there were long periods of no one at the counter. It just felt weird standing there in silence with a bunch of other customers.

Ordered online for pickup. Paid extra for lettuce onion tomato that wasn’t included. Egg was fried and not scrambled. Did not toast bagel. This was the 1st of 5 other times I had been there otherwise with no problems. Unfortunately I was with someone who had never been there before and he had a bad first impression. I tried calling them back but no one answered the phone. Owner called me back later in the day, after my bad review online explained the staffing issue that morning and reimbursed me for the order. Happy to have someone to explain the situation and take care of the problem.

If you’re a bagel fan, The Empire Bagel Factory on Marco Island is an absolute must-visit! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the amazing aroma of freshly baked bagels that promises something special. The selection is incredible, offering everything from classic everything bagels to unique flavors like jalapeño cheddar and cinnamon raisin.

What really sets this place apart, though, is the quality. Each bagel is perfectly boiled and baked to achieve the ideal balance of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Whether you’re having it plain, with cream cheese, or loaded with all the fixings, every bite is absolutely delicious.

The menu doesn’t stop at bagels, either. The sandwiches are fantastic, especially the bagel with lox and cream cheese—fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, their homemade pastries and muffins are the perfect complement to your bagel, and the coffee is the perfect pairing.

The staff are friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes every visit feel like a treat. It’s clear that they care about both the quality of their food and the experience of their customers.

Whether you’re a local or visiting Marco Island, The Empire Bagel Factory is a gem. It’s not just a bagel shop—it’s a delightful experience that’s worth...

The bagel, cream cheese, and lox when available are top quality and delicious. The service is brutal. Was in there on Monday February 12, 2024 about 10am. Wanted empire deluxe which is lox, cream cheeses, capers, red onions. The cashier said we out of the fish.

I went back February 13, 2024 about 9am. The place was 1/2 full with patrons and lox available. Ordered the deluxe with bottom coffee. It took nearly 30 minutes and when I tried to get a second cup of coffee, the girl in front tried to charge me. I pointed out menu says bottomless. She said printed menu and electronic menu wrong. The bagel was fresh and the lox was evn fresher. I can overlook the coffee issue.

Went back today, ordered the deluxe and paid about $14. Asked for a cup of water and was told by the same cashier as the past two days they only sell water. I asked for my money back. Really, no water, there are plastic cups with lids on their refrigerator. Yesterday it was coffee, today it was water.

If service had been 1/2 way decent I give 4 stars because food was so good. Not sure if the owners are ever present. Should not have this cashier as the front person. She's not helpful, friendly, or a good front of house representative.

Will be a long while...
